Question Clarify Green Tea vs White Lotus

So, while I’ve been reading novels that I’ve found on NU and browsing the NUF forums, I come across the terms green tea b**ch and white lotus. As far as I know, they refer to someone, especially a female, who looks delicate, cute and innocent on the outside but is a vicious, scheming backstabber on the inside.

My question(s): Is there a difference between a green tea b**ch and a white lotus or are they interchangeable? If there is a difference, what is it?

Any explanation or links to a good explanation in another thread would be greatly appreciated.

Besides what shio had said, green tea bitches also appeared innocent and attractive to men, and they are usually disliked by women. They might act pure to keep their male friends as 'backups' and take advantages of them, etc. They are bitches not just because they backstab a friend. It's something about gender/sex/romance/relationship stuff.

A white lotus is morally spotless and their only weakness is that they're too kind, but people use this term sarcastically because white lotus characters seem fake. White lotuses are more common among protags, but ofc you won't see the author saying that. If you read comments or reviews or tags, readers label good protags white lotuses a lot.

 

Yes, that's why I'm often confused, especially when MTL transmigration novels. in that confusing context (even if correctly translated), it's really confusing. And white lotus is used more than green tea to describe blackening female protagonist that, when green tea came, I was like 'what's the difference?'

white moonlight refers to a person's unattainable first love, as the moon can be seen but is not within reach

Question already answered, I just like to add that while White Lotuses are considered pure and innocent, it can be a bad trait, like those who are just plain naive. The kind who you just want to slap because of her utter sanctimoniousness.

It's still wrong. Bear in mind that these terms aren't primarily about characters in novels. Instead, they're about roles in TV shows, and they still follow their original definitions there (along with 傻白甜). If people are using these terms incorrectly for literature then they're using them incorrectly.

 

Can I still ask this follow-up question trailing the definition from Shio? What is the difference of a fake white lotus and a green tea b*tch?

 

The latter would probably take off the mask when the guy isn't there anymore, while the latter is still faking it, even though they're thinking the same thing on the inside?

 

You can be something other than innocent and pure and still not be evil. Hell, fake white lotuses are often still decent people; they're just hiding part of their personality.
