Qidian Copies a lot of things. Even their cover for a book.

Haven't been on for a while. Made a similar post a couple of months ago about this. But anyways saw this on Qidian and thought it looked similar. I realized it from a mobile game that I was pumped for that was just released last week to NA.

They photoshopped the man in the armor with the two-handed sword.

I know this is a common thing but just wanted to put it out there.

I’ve always been wondering how they got such high quality pics. Though to be fair, a lot of chinese authors use other game’s pics as well for their covers

 

Isn't that like, entirely illegal? Copyright has to have been violated here. Hopes something happens about it

 

Why is it called Shadow fight when the game character has a body now.

 

they're not the first NOR will they be the last to do that kind of thing, you do know most chinese novel (if not most novels in general) covers are like that.
and TBH i dont give a fck about qidan anymore, as long i get my doses of chapters coming in.
waiting for LNMTL to get some of the novel i read there in qidan( wich is at most 3 of all the garbo they accumulate)

The only time Copyright like this comes into effect is when the person stealing the work is from a big company and the company who has their work stolen has enough capitol to sue them and get money.

Inform the game devs and maybe something will happen, as for us on the Forum... Qidian is just gonna sit behind their desk and laugh at us.
Forward it to the people that can do real damage.

 

It's China. They don't care. By right, it's against their own laws, but as long as the owner of the copyright is not a China citizen, they really don't care. So if you create anything and don't want it copied, don't sell it in China. Your lawsuit will go nowhere. At least now they're a bit more transparent in that the court must give a reason for why a lawsuit is refused. So instead of not knowing what's happening to your lawsuit, now they tell you why they won't entertain your lawsuit.

Sighs I wish LNMTL would get a lot of their novels but they wont.

Plus stock images my ass. Especially when they use game covers of famous franchises.

Yes, it´s a copy. BUT have you actually checked that they didn't ask before they used it? Shadow Fight might see it as free advertisement/branding. Not like the picture is connected to something morally disgusting.

The Chinese law is probably something like, Shadow Fight has to prove what losses they have sustained by Qidan using their picture. Qidan looses in court 3-4 years later and has to pay a very small copyright fee. Will the studio still exist by then? There is also the type of crime(light/heavy copyright infringement), if it earned below 50.000 Chinese Yen then Qidan walks free. Since the server is based in China, Im pretty sure they are following the law actually.

 

The name stuck because before Shadow Fight 3 there was Shadow Fight and Shadow Fight 2 who the main character was a Shadow.
