An RPG Game (preferably for PC or older consoles) that's like the RPG novels out there

So, I've read LOTS of RPG novels where the MC either evolves upon reaching a certain level or gets a better class. Please name some RPGs like that. I'd love if the player plays as a monster in a world with humans.

Edit : No online games please.

Ah right @tirirism, for something like RPG novels there's Tree of Savior

 

ALL the "Super Robot Wars" games, they are all "tactics" type games: TLDR if you like mech anime it takes a bunch and throws them in to the same universe with some over arching plot HIGH replay Value but there are primarily JP but there are some in English

kamidori alchemy meister is exactly like the novels, grind monsters for parts and levels, there is a cheat dungeon(deadbeat dungeon) and you sleep with pretty much all the girls you meet

also:you craft items!
