Discussion Reasoning behind Stealing the Heavens mc being able to instantly understand a foreign worlds languag

So I just started reading Stealing the Heavens and the mc is in the new world, like chapter 4 or something. And he can instantly understand the language of a foreign world. Like I know he has knowledge of languages on Earth but how the hell does that translate to another world?
So just to clarify, the reasoning behind him knowing the foreign worlds language is that he has knowledge of a lot of earths languages?

chinese and japanese are universal(or multiverse) language....

 

It's Xianxia probably their language is still Chinese. It's the same with other novels that have no tag of Transmigration.

But maybe the author just didn't give a f*ck.

 

nah, in JP novels, usually the character innately are gifted the ability to understand the foreign language by w/e god brought them to that world unless otherwise stated. there are also times where they point out that they're hearing Japanese but what the other characters are saying and the writing are completely different. etc etc


it's a lot better than CN novels where....well nothing is ever explained, they just automatically know the language somehow, even if they're reincarnated into another persons body (thereby getting rid of the "learned while they were infants" trope)

 

There's a lot of ancient Chinese figures in this other world, at first i thought the stories from our world were about them somehow, but it seems like they also ended up in this world and set up empires, the empire the MC ended up in was founded over 1000 years ago from a ruler from ancient china.

Later on the story, old Chinese dynasties will appear in the story to make it even more obvious that the world speaks Chinese.

 

Previous CN protagonist have ascended to every possible world and taught all those heathens how to be civil. (aka give face).

 

If I ever tried to find a reason behind every single action done by the MC, especially Li Qiye from Emperor's Domination, then I would have long gone insane.

You have to switch off your brain if you want enjoy novels like these.

Is it something that needs explaining? Either you reincarnate and learn the language as an infant, or transmigrate and possess the knowledge the person who died had before their death. While in this case he went to another world due to a incident. Now why would we just assume no one has ever done that before? If it's possible once it'd have been possible other times as well. Maybe the language of that world, at least one of them, came from earth. Especially if many people of earth went there somehow and since he has a firm grasp of multiple languages already it wouldn't be too hard to understand since the roots are the same.

Still a stretch yeah i know but its not entirely impossible. The thing i'd really be wondering is why he wouldn't question how he can understand them in the first place.

omniversal actually. korean too. And english. As long as its between creatures of "human intelligence" actually. You see a lot of novels(including actual books) that skip the language barrier part.

 

That actually seems to be the case, many major historic figures from the warring states era of China appeared in this world thousands of years ago.

Yan Dan is his name in the translation, or at least what they call him perhaps Yan is a title, he even mentions his head being delivered to someone (emperor of Qin) after he got beheaded by his father.

 

Actually it isn't specified what language they are speaking. However when the MC inherited the encyclopedia of stealing it included tons of languages. This isn't said but implied. He knows these languages automatically.

Basically just the Isekai version of Aliens Speaking English.
It is so common that I tend to see it as a positive if the story acknowledges that languages is a thing at all.
