All I did was express my disagreement with your opinion. Nothing wrong with that. I don't see how that can be considered as condescending.

As a JP-EN translator (Fluent in both), if I sit down and just work on the chapter without pause, I can do around 25,000 characters within 4hrs. People with a solid JP+EN background are rare indeed, many of the works I saw translated weren't even by native speakers of either languages (which would explain the poor reception, since it is pretty much MTL at that point). If JP is literally translated, it's unbearably difficult to read and usually makes close to zero sense. Google Translate + editing won't save it either :D

Well, I just do this for fun so I could care less about the traffic on my work :cookie:

    Grammar difficulty:
    • Japanese = Korean > Chinese

    Reading/Writing difficulty:
    • Chinese > Japanese > Korean

Population of available translators in the novel translation scene:
    • Chinese >>>>> Japanese > Korean

So true... the only thing that I personally found to be the opposite was reading/writing difficulty, Chinese was so easy that it almost made me want to switch my major from Japanese to Chinese. Lol
But then again, I had an unfair advantage in first year Chinese since I’m a heritage Cantonese speaker that’s almost done with their Japanese studies in university

That's probably why. Learning from the ground up there's many more Chinese characters to memorise compared to Kanji. iirc you can pretty much read most printed material with ~2000 kanji, whereas for Chinese that amount is about elementary level.

The twist for Japanese is how kanji gets complicated with the multiple ways to read words and stuff.

    Some very good points here.

At the end of the day though, people should really not complain about TL speed if they are just pure leeching... :hmm:

    Shameless lys is shameless......

    Also...
I think most CN translators devoted their fulltime translating... I mean... They are paid translators after all.
Most JP translators are either basement-NEET, college students, or just people with day job...... I don't think there is any JP translator that devoted fully into translation.

    Man... My English is weird...
