Yaho. Since i dont see much talk about strategy games in here, i thought i'd make a dedicated thread for lovers of strategy games. Feel free to discuss games you've played or recommend games to others. ====================================== Here's the link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/672680/Call_of_War/ I found this interesting one on steam. It's a free-to-play risk style ww2 MMO strategy game with some elements that are RTS-like (like researching new weapons and tech) while matches can go up to 100 players on each map.It was only released two months ago so it can be considered a new game. There is also a special bonus pack for new steam players: Spoiler Steam Exclusive Offer Every new player will receive an exclusive Steam starter pack for a limited time once the game is released! Containing following items: 20.000 Gold (Premium Currency) 2 Month High Command (Premium Account) The starter pack is only available until December 31st 2017. Enjoy!
Strategy is one of my favorate genres, up there with simulations and Nintendo Games. Ive been plating alot of Crusader Kings lately; mixed in with some EU4 and a bit of Civ6. But for some reason; despite all of its flaws, i want to play Rome 2 Total War right now.
Have anyone tried They are billions? It is hardcore steampunk rts against zombies. Awesome game but I still can't beat 1st map in survival P.s. Supreme commander is the best.
Starcraft, and its sequel..sequel..sequel... is excellent, of course. Absolute high points of RTS gameplay, alongside tons of other great titles like C&C (Westwood titles explicitly), AoE, AoM, .. Most of these are old now, huh. ... Gee.. Well more recently Stellaris has been pretty awesome. ... Hmm... Not sure other than that. Are you sure they still make RTS games?... Well at least they still do 4X games. Civ VI came out fairly recently and has an upcoming (is it out yet?) expansion. So there's that. Edit: Oh. I did like Ashes of the Singularity.
Yes! The Stronghold series .. err. Mainly just Stronghold and Stronghold: Crusader, although I like 2 as well ... is a sterling example of castle building RTS done right. Why other games haven't copied their style I'll never know. ... I'd recommend them to anyone, anytime.
Yeah. Civilization was good but it was turn base. I dont like turn base games. Man i miss red alert 2, yuris revenge and how can i forgot sid mier pirates.
Total Annihilation! Such an amazing game! The fore father of Supreme Commander. Black and White 1/2 I need something similar. Populous the Beginning such an amazing game. Dungeon Keeper series if only War for the Overworld was good. It's only mediocre. Stronghold Ugh I suck at managing both the town and war at the same time. AoE Lots of memories. SC good times. Warzone 2100 This was great. Startopia such a good game. Metal Fatigue great robot RTS amazing! C&C RA DUNE from westwood. Ugh so many others. Can't remember them all.
I think I only play strategy games o-o Like warcraft , command and conquers and stronghold 2. Didn't like AOE and CV '-'
Yeah, the early C&Cs had the best base building. I used to have so much fun going to matches with bots on custom maps and just building the most elaborate bases. so fun. I think i've still got total annihilation somewhere. That was a fun and quirky strategy game to play.
I love castle building games but its rare to find a good one nowadays. Everyone are in MOBA these days.
RA2 is hard to play these days, yeah. It won't run natively on Windows 10. You need a ddraw dll replacement, and finding one that works well is harder than you'd think. You also can't just buy it from EA, swap the file and go -- Origin, EA's platform, fucks with it so you essentially just can't launch the game through it.. and yet it won't let you launch the game without it. Meaning that to play the game, whether you have bought it or not, you have no choice but to pirate a copy of it. ... The best way to get a working dll file, too, is to install the big fan mod.. err.. Mental Omega? .. Which comes packaged with one. It won't work, though, if you just install the mod and try to play the base game. Nooo. You need to install the mod with one copy of the game, and borrow just the dll file it installs to use in a fresh copy of the game. The hardest part of all this being just figuring it all out. Because if you google it, you get a bunch of dead links and generally unhelpful "solutions" that don't work because they're dated from years back. Wonderful.
I still run Windows 8 in my laptop. I was so angry of the auto-update function ow Windows10 so i uninstalled it. Windows 10 is horrible.
Does valkyria chronicles count as strategy? Also I just got a strategy game on psn called world of magiclanar war. Anybody play this yet?
I think the game works better with Windows 8.. but not that much better? Really you need to drop back to 7.
