But here is the deal, that is a misconception. Even with its current reiteration, they can still get DMCAed Unless a company has licensed to an English company, DMCA is rare and if a company like Kadokawa is on a DMCA rampage, whether a site is business or not it will get DMCAed
I'm not talking about DMCA though, I mean it would be pretty hard to negotiate deals legally with all the illegal uploads left up.
Difficult but not impossible but for a start, they could negotiate with smaller publishers and work their way up which would be a lot easier, for example negotiating with Qidian was difficult but not Zhulang and others
It's really very sad to see it go after using it for so long. My biggest concern is that alot of manga chapters post by now-defunct groups (their websites are closed) are corrections or better versions of earlier uploads of the same chapter (by the same or different groups). But the manga aggregators only pull the first copy of a chapter they come across, often with lower quality translation/images or chapters that were accidentally messed up in some way. The only place I was ever able to find good versions of those chapters was Batoto, when it's gone, there probably won't be any copies of those chapters anywhere.... I'm also wondering if the same would happen to all the non-english releases. The A-team issues... Part of Batoto's policy was to remove chapters of series that were being published internationally in English. Same here ---- Now I'm going to go read some of the comment sections that I liked before they're gone... Especially this one: https://bato.to/comic/_/comics/maou-jou-de-oyasumi-r19193#commentsStart
sooo... if i stay login until it closed, can i transported to any manga world in there? jk aside... thank you batoto n the guy behind it.
LOL, but what if you get transported into the world of Berserk? Or Goblin Slayer? May I suggest that if you stay logged in, do it on the page of a fluffy manga.
Different. Mangatraders were hated by pretty much all scanlators for their numerous and continuous offences. What brought them down was the constant attacks by a coalition of scanlators who put them on blacklist. Everytime they were up, they got attacked by newbie hackers. It came to the point where 3 established hackers among the scanlators finally managed to hack them and downloaded a lot of good stuff, such as the list of their paypal donators. We then found out that they had made a killing from the paypal donations alone though, that wasn't the reason why we shut them down. That was pretty much the last time scanlators anonymous managed to get together and lynch a site together. Batoto went down because of various problems, but it's not because it's being lynched by scanlators.
Has anyone had any experience with https://trackr.moe? Would like to know what the experience is like before signing up.
Batoto was without a doubt the best site to read manga online Well anyone got any good recommendations?
Bato.to closing is really sad, but understandable. Places like Bato.to were instrumental in giving the Scanlation teams kudos and a community to share our work. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to run a site like that, seven years is good innings. Just as an aside, there is a lot that goes into putting out translated manga, not just the actual translation, but sourcing good raws and then cleaning and preparing each page, not to mention the technical knowledge to do this. As someone that did Scanlations, I'm really grateful for their services over the years. Baka Updates does Manga like NU. I have always used the Baka Updates as a source of information for Manga and decided to see what else it offers. Seems pretty comprehensive and easy to navigate. Check it out as an alternative.
Oh no...! That's a shame. While I've been reading significantly less manga compared to the past, I did use Batoto for a few series (most recently Dungeon Meshi), so I'll be sad to see it go. : ( But yeah, working on call for 7 years without a break sounds rough...hope the owner gets a more relaxed job next!
How the heck am I gonna track my manga now, that site was the best so far. 4 years of use has made me rather attached Honestly, I'm quite sad about the closing down but seeing the distress it's made for it's creator I can understand why he's doing it. Hope all the best for him.
