To me, those simply materialize additional light, qi, wind, magic, aura blades alongside the actual cut, not necessarily parallel but targeted. What I can't bend my head around are combination-formations, do the combinig guys simply stand in a specific formation (which would make sense) but what stops the enemy to divide and conquer, one guy blocks the formation-effect for a moment and the other simply stabs one of the unmoving guys channeling his power into whatever effect it is. Or if it's one of those "flooddragon" formations, do the guys float within their manifestation and if yes, why doesn't the formation breaks down at first hit if one of the floaty guys inside gets squashed

No, it still takes up 5 episodes with all the speeches and comments, but then a narrator ends the 5th episode with "It took a long time to describe, but these events all happened in less than a second."

But I have read a lot of chinese novels and am asking a question now, and i'm talking about xuanhuan/xianxia which is the genre for most cultivation novels. Why are you saying that I have not read any chinese novels? EDIT: Also, that's a Chinese Novel ADAPTED to manhua.
for me though it depends if you memorize the skill description they learnt, then its easier to visualize but sometimes they dont describe it so its up to your imagination.
