The unethical government researcher makes a return! Here's what he tells you this time:

The researcher is conducting a sociology experiment, and he wants to know the monetary value that people assign to their physical freedom.

He has contacted 100,000 people (including you) and proposed the following deal:

    1. By accepting the contract, you will agree to move into a ~40 square meter 2DK apartment (2 rooms, 1 kitchen, 1 bath) in the largest city in your country. The rent and utilities are free. The floor plan is as follows:

    2. You will be under house arrest inside this apartment. You may not leave for any reason, and your apartment will be monitored to ensure that you do not leave. However, anyone can come visit you or stay with you inside the apartment if you like.

    3. You must remain here for a minimum of 20 years. You can stay longer, but no shorter.

    4. You will receive 3 meals a day delivered to you, as well as trash service, for free. However, the free food sucks. If you like, you can order your own food for delivery and hire other kinds of room service (e.g. cleaning) that you can find on the Internet, but you must pay with your own money. Actually, anything you buy with your own money can be delivered/installed in the room if you like (amazon delivery? lol).

    5. The company provides health/dental insurance, and if you're ill you can have a doctor come to your place to see you. In the event of a medical emergency that requires hospitalization, you will be hospitalized for treatment, but return to house arrest after you've recovered.

    6. You will receive a monthly stipend of XXXXX dollars. The amount is to be negotiated below.
The researcher explains to you that his office has decided to determine the monthly stipend using a method similar to a reverse auction. In other words, the 1,000 people (out of 100,000) who make the lowest monthly salary bid will be offered the contract for real.

Therefore, if you are interested in this arrangement, you must make the lowest bid you think is worthwhile to have a realistic shot at actually winning the contract.

How much would you need to receive a month in order to make this contract worthwhile?

Free house, free food, no need to work, no need to deal with people... Isn't this the life I wished for~?

Well, I think 2k is enough to pay for some good food now and then, pay the internet and buy games and other interesting things every month '3'.

    1. I wouldnt, I'm positive I'd go crazier than I am now within two years.

    2. this question is only good if you are good at conversing dollars (I'm assuming the amounts above are in dollars) to your own currency, or are bored enough to do it. also, it depends in which country you live; in some places life is cheaper.

I’d go with $7,500 since that’s what, $90,000 a year? I’m too lazy to check for sure. Anyway, $60,000 is fine, but $90,000 is much better in terms of saving up for stuff.

Essentially, I'm living for free, right?

This by essence already means I'm saving a considerable amount of money, so... 1000$ for me, enough to pay for internet and a good computer, than I just need to save up this money and work at home office online...

It would be a pretty decent deal overall, since I would still have a good amount of freedom to receive anyone I want, though I would need some way to excercize, since I would have health issues otherwise.

In 20 years, those 1000$ would probably amount to some good 200000$ (Consider that I spend some 2000$/year on extras) + anything I get from Home-office work...

Seems like a pretty decent deal overall~

500k or more. Why? Because i value myself that much. I believe that one of the infinite future posibilities of mine is able to bring great benefit to society, so me living in seclusion is like ripping apart a good future for all humanity. But even so, its not an integral part that would ruin the future. Thats why 500k is a fair price since we are talking about affecting the future of humanity.
This is inspired from wang lu and wang wu big heart oath demon.

    Hmm... I suppose between 2K and 5K...
To me that is enough, at least that's what I think.
Because since everything is basically free~

No amount. Can't go anywhere, meet any new people, or even take a walk outside? The only way I'd be willing to do that is if I was paid enough to significantly fund several charities and research projects, which would put me at the top of the 100,000 people rather than the bottom. Say upper 5 figures.

Hmmmmmm... I just noticed something... I wouldn't accept the deal no matter how much I was offered.

    I'm 21 right now, I would be 41 when I got out...

That is too old to take care of children, ideally, I'd want to have a stable enough life by the time I'm 25 to adopt 2 children (I know, pretty hard, but I want it anyway), if I had to wait until I was 40, I would have no condition of properly taking care of them.

The deal seems pretty wonderful financies-wise and living conditions-wise, but terrible for someone that wants to make a family.
He said he would pay 50-100 for internet... >.>
