Ah, 啃老族 does not mean NEET. It's actually a non-comedic term that literally means 'tribe gnawing on old people'. You can be educated and employed but still be a 啃老族. It refers to a generation of spoiled youths who exploit their parents and use up their money for their own selfish purposes, instead of caring for them as tradition dictates. You may be a NEET because of circumstances beyond your control, but the 啃老族 chose to actively exploit their parents, even though they could be earning their own money.

Another term is 月光族. It sounds like 'moonlight tribe' (月光), but actually refers to people who spend all their money (光 = nothing left) every month (月). This is a bit different from 'living from paycheck to paycheck.' It could be that they are using up their monthly paycheck to fuel a lavish lifestyle. In any case, they're not bothering to save.

Pretty sure 河蟹 is used to refer to censorship. Can't remember the exact words for censorship but I read this somewhere before.

Ai, I think I've come across some slang that might be useful? It's mainly for BL...

    So there's two BL terms 攻 (attack/top) and 受 (receive/bottom)
As for the two terms, I came across one of them while translating:

年上 - this means the older one 攻 (attacks/tops)
年下 - this means the younger one 攻 (attacks/tops)

I'm not sure how useful it is for others, but it's very easy to mistranslate this I think? Bc the characters used are very common and took me a bit of effort to find the intended use.

In other words, a lurker. I think that's a term that's in use now.

Also, I haven't seen you before. Are you new, or one of the aforementioned lurkers?

I also had trouble with this. From what I could tell, the closest phrase would be 'take down'. As in, make the targets in a dating sim fall for you. As in, clear a dungeon in an MMORPG.

Oh, thanks! :cookie: That has so many meaning if you try to search for it so it's hard to pin down. I mean, the one specifically for novels and characters is hard to understand.

While I've seen "他扮女装接近" mostly translated as "crossdressing," I realized "male honey trap," i.e. a guy using deception to seduce another guy, is an alternate definition as well.
