Is it just me or alot of the japanese novels where the mc ends in another world through different means, the story ends up having alot to do with food. I dont have a big problem with it, I was just wondering if it was just me noticing it.

Yeah, there does seem to be a lot when it comes to food. I think it's mostly due to making use of the another world knowledge and it's an easy way to display Japanese culture in a western fantasy world. It also might be also having pride in their own culture and wanting to kind show that. Especially onsens.

Go to foreign land and you would miss your country's food and would want to make one. That is on the same planet where you could always import what more if it is on another .

It's always rice and soy sauce that they go crazy for.

And they always make pudding that makes others go crazy.

becuz ISEKAI is tendency compareble with Early or Mid Centuries of our very earth human society. theis seasoning is either salt or paper or none. also the way they cook s either bake or boil. so their taste is either thin or none/tasteless.

so as Japs, or rather Asians who got tasted many powerful meals, they tendency became a picky with food.

It would be nice if they stopped talking about how much they miss rice once in a while.

All of that makes sense, but honestly, I've always thought that the authors just ran out of things to get the plot driving . . . Never thought about how they could miss their food. :sweating_profusely:

...and katana. The whole folded a thousand times thing. In reality they only do that because of the poor quality of local iron and katana is perfect for lightly armored samurai but not fully armoured medieval knights. Armor of medieval europe is so effective that there is a false notion that their swords are not sharp.

Anime fans when they were younger they loved anime/manga for the japanese school life comedy/fantasy shizzle.
Its not that japanse are only proud of their shit but its because its an anime thing.
Slice of life in a fantasy world is litteraly a type of fetish so cooking can be taken the same way.

Aka the Mc (interset yourself) wishfullfilment slice of life amazing everyone with your SUPER DUPER OTHERWORDLY COOKING.
    That kinda sums it up.

Somehow every MC knows how to cook at five star level and happens to be super smart in making equipment needed to cook at that level.

considering how many of their authors seems to go through failing health problems, it's probably just a starving artist thing, with their desire for something to eat seeping into their stories. kinda sheds a new light on all those novels that're entirely about food, rather than just a subplot to show off, as well as why some characters act like they haven't seen food in years.

I find it stupidly boring to read food chapters. There are whole novels and manga dedicated to isekai cooking so I guess the Japanese just eat that shit up. The problem is very cultural as the Japanese have the same problem with their portrayal of MCs. Either they are super dark and useless to Op. Or they are stupidly Op but completely useless when it comes to story progression. I don’t think most know how to portray a real person without using food to try and “ground” them as “realistic”. We all eat food so it’s easy to relate to.

It also take time and effort to learn how to cook right. Even then there cost of materials needed for practicing to learn how to almost every dish known to mankind.
