I think there will also be a small percentage of people who will also temporarily use their spirit stones to avoid cliffhangers, but besides that, I think your right about the populations that will develop on QI.

And while your second option would.be nice for users, it really isn't likely that QI will go for that. I don't think they'll consider it the most feasible, particularly when it goes away from their VIP model.

Well, that is why it's on the beta I guess? They'll probably find other methods to make people pay if it doesn't work.

yea. Most of the minor here might have the money but they wont have the access to credit cards to pay via paypall or somesort..
And that price isnt good here too..
We can get an actuall hard copy book here for those prices.. with much more pages to boot.
Not to mention they wont have these repeat informations that make reading too fast for its worth

I wonder if someone will make a script to get past the "premium" load like for what they did for the regular ad gated content script atm.

Chances are, as sad as it may be, people will start going to aggregator sites

I think their aim are adults, since minors are usually poor...

I mean, when I was a minor, it would be absolutely impossible for me to spend a dime on something I could get for free if I waited enough... I assume most people that don't earn their keep do the same.

Welp.. most people reading webnovels comes from the JP subculture that is anime and manga..
I wont say that no adults dig that stuff, but a huge % of them dont..
    Atleast here in my place.
I outta say that aiming for adult target of audience is somewhat miss target because most of the readers should be minors.
Its not like were in china where the site is commonly known and everyone of us can read it in its original language source..
No one know about them.. at all..

I'd say young adults are more likely.

I mean, teenagers are poor... >.>
Well, otaku culture has been growing for a while now, if someone was an otaku at 14 years old, 10 years ago, they are 24 now, they should be working adults that have no family to support (AKA, have a good amount of money to spend on hobbies), and that still enjoy those things... I think those are the target.

Once people do have a family, they usually have bigger worries over seeing the next chapter of a novel they can read for free later on, so they probably won't spend a dime on Qidian either...

Teenagers on the other hand... It is a big market for sure, but their money is too limited, and reading is not that much of a common hobby for teenagers in many countries, it is hard to appeal to them.

It's much more likely for them to buy a new Call of Duty over a Qidian novel IMO, so it is not a market that seems very profitable.

Eeeeeeeeh? Does it make a difference?

As long as it is a multiplayer AAA game in which they can kill lots of stuff and swear on what they supposedly did to the other party's mother, it probably has the same effect... >.>

business is business when it come to runaways.. But being a free readers, I was disappointed to see that this is happening but as I have enough understanding when it comes to premium accounts,, I played a lot of games that can be unlock only by buying it with a true money so what is the difference?

Well, it is a sustainable model though, many games survive of microtransactions.

I myself already spent 700$ on them, so... It works.

I'm honestly shocked that aggregator websites haven't set up web-bots yet to automate grabbing the paid chapters. There's no captcha's after user registration so

    Yup my thought exactly.
qidian got around 120+- (probably wrong) novel title right?
Assuming each day an account get 10 'SS' and around 120*2 = 240 chapter, for each chapter cost around 4-8 'SS'.
They only need 250 accounts, good script, decent host, and in around 2 months they would get some revenue.

you cannot say nobody, cause it defined to be no one.. but some and most of the loyal readers had already spend a money for it cause they enjoyed.
