Any recent mecha anime that was fun. I don't need some grand space opera or something. Just a good mecha anime with good ol action scenes without all the drama most of them tend to tack on to them

Better wait for more episodes. The OP doesn't want drama and the anime is currently fill with "drama".

Depends on what you consider fun.

Knights & Magic does have some comedic moments and it's amongst the newest

Already watched it but mediocre. Darling in the Franxx is a good anime but please no... What I want is around Full Metal Panic like. A good mix of action and comedy

For "fun" I'd recommend the Macross Series, and Gargantia. Maybe Basquash too.

Just wait for season 3 of Fullmetal panic and code geas. Or you could try aldnoah zero. Heroic age is pretty good too.

Gargantia? ehhh.... the first half is pretty good but the second half builds up quite a bit of drama.

Im surprised people havent mentioned Heavy Object yet. Giant mecha/robots, great comedy and tons of action. It's very fun.

Buddy Complex and Heavy Object are pretty straightforward fun with a focus on the battles.

Okay, to clarify. I'm looking for Mecha anime like Gurrenn Lagaan and Full Metal Panic. Not only have I already watched the most obvious ones that come to mind, I'm also sick and tired of seeing mecha anime making the idea of giant robots fighting unfun. As an example, everytime mechas are used in war where there is one character rambling on about the horrors of war is out.
Pacific Rim was fun, Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans was not. And Aldnoah Zero requires to many brain cells shut off to ignore the plot

    Heroic Age (Personal recommendation)
    Asura Cryin'
    Tengen Toppa Gurren Langann (classic)
    Nobunaga the Fool
    Kuromukuro
Aquarion (there are multiple, independent versions, some good, some not really)
    Scrapped Princess
    Rinne no Lagrange
    Vandread
    Idolmaster Xenoglossia
Voltron (does this count as anime?)
    Oban Star-Racers

To name a few that haven't been named yet.

Heavy Object actually kinda inverts, and sometimes parodies, that trope because Objects are seen as the "clean" method of waging battles and there's unofficial guidelines to accompany the 'clean wars'. That's compared to battles in the Northern European Restricted zone where Objects are banned and the place is a chaotic madhouse.
