After the ending of WMW there was no clarification of who was the one eyed owl(later a black crow). Leylin keeps meeting the owl's past versions as he goes into dreamscape. It also mentions about repaying an old debt to him! And the woman who has eyes all over the body, the one who helped him escape dreamscape when he was with Bessita(breaking bloodline shackles in the purgatory world arc). I think it was a loose end. Does anyone know how all of it plays out?
I don't really remember the owl ever being explained. But seeing as it is a time traveling owl, most likely the debt he's talking about happens far in the future, long after WMW ends. It isn't really a loose end, more like the author being lazy, I think.
Nah bruh the bird was an old friend of the previous Nightmare King which is why it was in dreamscape and it took care of his legacy for him after he was forced to suicide by the other dreamscape rank 8s.

This is the closest to a correct answer. Firstly, previous Nightmare king was not forced to commit suicide by other dreamscape rank 8s (or calamity lords) - this was just something that calamity lords believed in; it was deduced by Leylin himself later on that nightmare king long died mentally when his so-called girlfriend died in the plane set as the final test (as the memories were sealed, the exact reason wasn't made clear). it was dreamscape using nightmare king to deal with lords of calamity and nightmare king went to world of gods with intention of dying there as the alternative was to be controlled completely by dreamscape (which later Leylin overcomes with his own power), hence the inheritance left in that world of gods acquired by the clone. And, the owl/crow was supposedly the fragment of spacetime/dreamforce that empathized with the suffering of the nightmare king.
