I think you are overreacting to be honest, If you're doing the LN and they are doing the WN then who cares? To me it just seems like you're upset they didn't do what you asked.

 

I think he's more upset that people are actually paying them to Google translate for hundreds of dollars when he can provide more chapters for dozens of dollars.

I'm also wondering about this. Their response and methods aside, if I'm not mistaken, usually the WN and LN are separate and even if the LN is licensed, the WN translators ale left to their devices.

The author hasn't given them permission to translate their WN. Just because the Japanese is free to read online doesn't mean anyone can use it how they wish.
I just had dinner with the author of Realist Hero and he was really sad about how people keep translating the web novel without his permission.
We had a conversation about how the authors can legally make us representatives of their copyright enforcement even for the WN version if it becomes necessary.

Basically here's the deal: If you translate the WN you are "assuming" that the author is cool with it. In my experience, any author who is being published as a LN in Japan will be 100% against any group translating their WN without permission from them. The only reason they don't do anything is because they are individuals. If the need arises we can relatively easily be given the legal status of their copyright representative for the WN as well as the LN that we have the license to.

 

Aren't WNs different from the LNs?

If their quality is so subpar, let the market decide. Don't throw a tantrum because you didn't get your way.

That's why you also need to license the WN as well, or just something simple like asking the Author to send a message to stop. In the Community, we already treat anything in the Web, like the WN, as something Free for Grab. Even if the Authors doesn't like it, if they don't voice it, then we don't know and we will still do what we think we can do.

I still think that instead of making this post (since it seems like you're upset at them for not listening) you should have done the Mature thing and just done the proper actions to make them stop. Easier and better than making a post like this..... That's what I think at least.
