I'm looking for a cultivation LN, where somewhere along the lines the main character's cultivation undergoes a deviation or something, where it now works in a different way (for example instead of becoming a martial emperor, a void lord, or whatever the next rank is normally, he enters a different ranking system and becomes a war god or something else). So essentially when he promotes to the next 'rank' he ends up as a different but equivalent existence.
Martial World MC's cultivation has a parallel path along with the main one I still don't really get how it works though

Immortal Mortal & Undefeated God of War both do this. Immortal Mortal does it right off the bat, and then does it again later on. Undefeated God of War does this half-way through the story. Spoiler: Immortal Mortal - Both The "right off the bat" is the MC having to unblock and then cultivate with his Meridians, rather than his Spirit Roots, due to not having Spirit Roots. Later on this difference prevents him from using a special stone he has a bunch of to grow, and instead has to essentially develop in a different direction than most others at that point. Spoiler: Undefeated God of War About halfway through the story, the MC of this undergoes a certain method of training, which results in him gaining a special body type. This body type is the outright antitheses of the base of his previous techniques (or, more specifically, the antithesis of the Spirit Energy that he and everyone around him was using before), but significantly strengthens his body in exchange. He then starts learning how to do the same or similar things without using the Spirit Energy he was reliant on before.
