    Close but doesnt exactly match the criteria-
    Horizon in the middle of nowhere (the female lead is an android)
    Crest/Banner of stars (the whole abh race is an artificial gentically modified human race, and so by extension is Lafiel, the female lead/mc)

    There is one more novel that I remember, kino no tabi
    Hermes in it is a talking scooter. He is also the second mc
    Kino is the mc. As for there gender, it's a spoiler.
    The novel is episodic and has many chapters dealing with clones/androids etc


    Another one is toaru series, i think the misaka clones sure qualify.

    anime move/series - Time of eve ( a slice of life with asimov's three laws)
    the old asimov books/novels ( he popularized the concept of the android). author's full name is Isaac Asimov
