In my opinion, revenge is a main plot point and shouldn't be simply "kill them all", the MC may hesitate but realise that killing all of them is safer than letting some of them alive. Or instead he could torture the one he hates, but realise he become exactly what he was fighting against. Then he care or he doesn't, depending on which direction your story is going.

Depends on the circumstances, but well if proven guilty then being ruthless is my favorite course of action, though if someone did murder his family for reason such as they are corrupt or bad people,then i'll rather thank them since getting rid of trash in this world are my wish come true.
I won't kill the one who did it, I will kill all of his/her family, relatives, and friends in front of him/her while torturing him/her.
Vent in a way that doesn't kill anyone. If the target does change, it doesn't mean that every single thing is easily forgiven. Edit: "Hate the crime not the criminal" someone said. It's probably a bad experience, so not letting it happen again is the best choice. Going on a justice trip because someone had caused tragedy makes it obviously revenge. If it's me, realistically speaking, I would learn from the experience... And probably remember that person's face...name, etc.
That will again be a pain in the ass. Think about it, One must know elaborate ways (normal ways are so middle class lol)to torture to inflict max damage. It would take so much time in raking my brain for such things, better to kill then.
vengeance is a right not an excess. to avenge is however not tantamount to drowning in blood. a person can have a life while also seeking vengeance for their grievances. even if the culprit turns over a new leaf its meaningless because there are some crimes such as rape murder human trafficking which effectively mean that you lose your classification as a person and only deserve the treatment that a rabid mangy rat gets, a swift yet painful death. that does not mean that the avenger should let his hatred takeover his life or colour every moment of his existence nor does it mean that he can callously murder anyone that gets in his way. he s allowed to kill those responsible no more no less if the avenger decides to wipe out a clan in retaliation when only 4 members are responsible then he is in the same boat as those he hates
Honestly if you wanted to torture someone without wanting to be what you call middle class there are very simple methods that work wonders toxic plants are very good choices for example if you had access to a plant like the gympie gympie plant (aka the suicide plant) the person would try and kill themselves after getting it on them. This plant has stinging hairs that have neurotoxin and contact with the leaves or twigs causes the hollow, silica-tipped hairs to penetrate the skin. The hairs cause an extremely painful stinging sensation that can last anywhere from days to years.
The thing is when it comes to a clan it’s better to wipe them all out if there is a good chance they will retaliate so you will not have to worry about them in the future even throughout our history this method has been used to eliminate any future problems true it is a very cruel method but it is also effective.
