In qidian system isnt royalty is just percentage of purchased chapter? no need to extend that contract
And for reputable author, i think it is normal in business to discuss better terms in contract. I am sure qidian will do it to prevent that author moving to another competitor

True but trying to start a publishing company, I can see the risks involved for publishers but Japanese system is just cruel since their monopolies make Americans and Chinese look like saints. Zaibatsus that own every type of business and tied to yakuza. They even own the banks that finance their businesses, they can afford to pay well. It's just taking a loan from their own money

So that "helping" means they're just foreshadowing the real business they're doing behind WW's back like picking up on where the translation stopped copy pasting it and then make everybody think it's a way of giving back to the fans of the novel? Right? So much for dual hosting.

Yes, this is true of some of their older contracts. Tian Can Tu Dou, who wrote BTTH, ended up releasing his new book Yuan Zun on literally every single platform EXCEPT Qidian once he was free.

Because Qidian is a subsidiary of Tencent, and Tencent is a behemoth in China. You don't mess with Big Brother

 

QI seems to be unsatisfied and they're extending their poaching hands to another novel hosted in WW.

Actually...it's how business works when the regulatory environment is lax. China is more concerned with technology stuff so that's where the burden of the regulation is going to lay.

At the rate since @rwxwuxiaworld made the announcement, WW has given us 1.8 chapter-per-day, which is close to his promise of 2-per-day. The massively reduced release speed in the last month is concerning, though. At the release rate of the last month (0.35 chapters-per-day), it'll take 7-8 months to complete HJC.

2 chapters each day is a big commitment. Maybe too big. As far as I can tell, there's been no communication from WW concerning the decline in release rate. It would be nice to hear something from Ren, giving us an updated release rate or an assurance that they'll return the release speed to 2-per-day in the near future.
