The ML actually met the MC pretty early, it was when the MC was attending classes with prince and princess due to her half brother applying her to get educated there for make up for their father practically forgetting about her... she was sitting next to a shy girl and the shy girl seemed to have an interests towards the MC, a prince who had liked the girl got jealous and tried to get the MC in trouble but the MC exposed him for what he had done, the ML saw the entire thing and felt the MC was interesting, later on, he had summoned for the MC which resulted in the MC's father taking the MC to the palace to see the emperor who just 'happen to hear what had happened'. When the MC saw the ML, the MC's father was kneeling but the MC refuses to kneel! The ML gets off his dragon throne and smiles while picking up the MC and holding her. The servants are shocked because this is the first time their cold emperor had smiled. The MC tells him to stop holding her, she's only 14 years old but the ML commented how it felt like the MC was 10, this remark made the MC's dad feel guilty for how he had forgotten the MC and how 'his' body is the way is it due to malnutrition.. He tells the MC's father she doesn't need to kneel to him and orders for the MC to live in the palace. In the end, the MC's father makes an excuse and flees, leaving the MC behind with the ML. The ML tells the MC that she can come and go whenever she wants but she has to come before a certain time, she also was given access to read the palace books. When he looks at the MC and knowing of her miserable experience, he couldn't help but to want to take care of her. The MC asks where she'll be living and the ML jokingly teases her saying they're live together! They're both men so there shouldn't be any problems.. the MC gets angry then the ML finally decides to honestly tell her that he had a room prepared for her. When she goes there, she is informed by the ML's servant that this is a place the ML never lets anyone go to, the MC is the first. When the MC enters, she see's a pleasant looking maid there, the MC treats her indifferently and goes to bed. The ML who was secretly watching heart did not feel comfortable seeing how close the MC and the maid were, he then told his servant to change the maid to an eunuch! The following day, the MC was surprised to see the change. The eunuch then told the MC about how she has to attend a banquet which involved the ML and a neighboring countries princess. The MC assumes they'll probably marry to form a union. At the banquet, as soon as the MC shows up, people were all awed by his beauty and noble cold presence. The ML was not happy at seeing all these men and women looking at the MC, he then directly got off his dragon chair, picked up the MC, and sat back at the throne. He then announced that the MC must be treated as if she has a prince status! The queen from the other nation tries to get married to the MC but the MC refuses to be with her, she asks if the MC thinks she's ugly but the MC told her she's beautiful. The MC was mentally thinking the girl looks as equal as all the other girls in the emperor's harem. The ML feels slightly upset and is concern that the MC took interest towards this girl. The MC then tells her the reason why she can't marry her is due to the MC having a sweetheart, she uses her past life name, Zhou Jiahan. People are startled that the MC has relations with the Zhou's. Apparently, saying their name is taboo. Later that night, the ML saw the MC looking sad and went behind her, she then turned back to her indifferent self when she took notice of him. He asks if 'he's' thinking about Miss.Zhou to which the MC says yes. The ML feels slightly upset. 4 Years later, the MC because a beautiful 18 year old boy although people had to do a double take because some people thought 'he' was a girl at first... Girls not only dreamed of one day marrying the handsome emperor, they also dream to marry the prime ministers 2nd son! The ML heart has been wavering, now that the MC is 18, that means she has to leave the palace. At this point, the ML had long determined his feelings and is aware he had fallen in love with a man! He doesn't want the MC to go but he can't force her to stay. He knows there is an obstacle of a man loving a man but he believes that one day, he can make the MC fall in love with him! He tries to find methods until one day, the MC's step mother shows up crying and telling the MC to come home, 'his' father is dying. She then left to go but the ML was even more upset because now the MC was going to stay at the prime ministers residents. The ML started to become concern about the MC potentially falling in love at first sight with a woman... His servant then mentions they'll need a new prime minister so the ML now feels like he has a reason of how to make the MC come to the palace again. The MC later tries to investigate her fathers death since he had been poisoned, she goes to the ML and presents him the golden token he had given to her which will allow her to request for anything, she asks to be made prime minster. After leaving, the ML was a bit upset. He had originally intended to make the MC the new prime minister regardless of her using the token or not. He rather she had used the token for a something else.. The ML then had the MC have a new home built for her new residents near the palace, when the MC went there, to her surprise, there wasn't a single maid, they were all eunuch! The MC ask her servant why there are no females to which the servant tells her the emperor feared she would be tempted by women which would interfere with her work... After the ML announced the MC to be the new prime minister, there of course people would be opposed to it, involving the other prime minister who had a hand in the MC's father's death. He wanted the MC's fathers power for himself, they were debating about a solution for flooding which resulted in the ML regretting making the MC into the new prime minster. He realizes now the MC's life may be endangered. He becomes upset and uses the MC's fathers death to make it so she doesn't have to deal with the flooding issue so she'd be safe. Later, the MC went to a brothel with her brother and his friend to investigate because the poison the killer used on their father was sourced back to the brothel. When the ML's dark wei told the ML that the MC went to a brothel and stayed in a room with one of the ladies for an hour, he was enraged. His servant suggests him to go to the prime ministers residents (MC's) to ask 'him' to explain. The ML tries to ease his anger, apparently, he had been carefully trying to prevent the MC to have any contract with women. He feared that if the MC fell in love with a woman, he'd go crazy and might even kill the person the MC fell in love with. This is as far as things gotten between them where I was at.

Some details of an incident that lead up to how the ML found out the MC is a woman. Their country was going at war with this other country, the MC ends up volunteering to go to the front lines because she feels there's something suspicious going on and wanted to investigate it in person, the ML of course refused because he doesn't want to put the MC in any danger but in the end, the MC convinces her to let him go to the barracks and promises that she'll return home safely. She meets her half brother and his friend to assist in the war, when she saw a general wearing red, she realizes he's the enemy emperor and figured out why her brother had been unable to defeat him. She then tells the soldiers to give her a bow and arrow and surprisingly enough, from the distance she was at (which was pretty far), she was able to shoot the enemy emperor exactly where his heart should be but due to his armor, he was saved. When the enemy emperor saw this and laughs while saying how he wanted to take the MC as one of his people while his eunuchs tried to get him medical help. After seeing the enemy side retreat, the soldiers began to highly appreciate the MC. During a banquet they held for the MC, they invited dancers with one particular dancer falling onto the MC. The MC was so shocked when she saw her, she picked her up and left to give her medical treatment on her foot. The reason why the MC was shocked was because this woman looked exactly like her ill little sister, making the MC treat and looked gently at the woman. While treating her, the MC's brother and his friend shows up with the brother refusing to allow the MC to wed a dancer regardless of how he himself had fallen in love with his maid.. The friend knew the MC's identity as a woman so he wasn't too concern. Later, the dancer shows up came to offer tea to the MC as her thanks, the MC finds out she had been drugged! The MC collapses and wakes up at the enemy emperors grounds with her body being abnormally weak. The MC gets upset at the woman who looked like her sister, yeah she looks like her, but she must remember, she isn't her! Things happen which resulted in the enemy emperor seemly falling in love with the MC, he began to get jealous and wanting to kill his maids whenever they touch or interact with the MC, particularly the dancer whom he saw the MC treat a little differently than the rest. Although the dancer was his childhood friend, he had no problem kicking the crap out of her and calling her a slut. After seeing how the enemy emperor wanted to have his way with her, she gets scared, not because of him sleeping with her, but of her gender being exposed. She fears that this will be a great blow to the original body hosts country! With this, the MC developed a quick plan by gaining the help of one of the enemy emperor's maids by asking for the antidote and exchange, she has a way for the maid to become the enemy emperor's woman. The woman brought the 'antidote' so the MC gave her incense which if lighten, would make the enemy emperor see the person he would most love. After taking the 'antidote', the MC takes note of a unique taste. Before they try to escape, the maid had the MC change clothes with her, making the MC basically dress as a woman. On their way to escape, the cart driver held the MC's hand to let her in but as soon as they had contact they suddenly felt a murderous glare, they realized they've been found out by the enemy emperor. He was able to recapture and found out the MC was actually a woman! He informs the MC that she was not actually given the antidote, but another type of drug, as the MC's mind slowly faints, she recalls the unique taste and asks if the drug was the 'blood of the red flower'. Basically, 'blood of the red flower' is a type of curse but only found in ancient books, it ties a man and a woman together, in life, they are unable to separate from the contract, whoever the woman gives their first kiss to will tie her with that person, even if the 'woman' is a 'man', there will be an invisible force that will make the two meet, no matter how many times they try to escape. In their life, they are tied together forever! Before the enemy emperor can kiss the MC, a black figure wearing a black mask shows up. He tells the enemy emperor that the MC doesn't belong to him! He ends up taking the MC and fades away in a mist. Back at an inn, he puts a blanket over the MC and gently laughs. He tells the unconscious MC how he had been tangled for a long time because of her, he had finally accepted the fact that he had fallen in love with a man but to only find out the MC was unexpectedly a woman, does she know how happy he is? He then gave her a kiss. After kissing her, a red light overlaps both of their bodies then disappeared into it. The ML thanks the enemy emperor for making the MC drink the 'blood of the red flower', now the MC cannot leave his side, their souls are always fated together! I mainly wrote what I recalled from my memory after reading it before answering the question.. so far, people actually couldn't tell if the MC is a man or woman, they just constantly say how beautiful the MC is. Since everyone knows the MC as a 'man' it just says 'a beautiful boy'. There is no generic hints of how the MC is a woman. The only people in the start who knew the MC was a woman was the MC's mother who is dead. Other than that, no one else knew or figured it out, not even her father knew. The next person to find out was the MC's half brother's friend. The only way he found out was because he gave the MC medical treatment and realized she had a woman's pulse. Next is the enemy emperor then the ML after the MC dressed as a woman and the ML saving her, but besides those incidents, there was no stupid cliche's I can think of with hints of the MC being a woman.

They didn't get a chance to, or rather, a day prior before everyone found out, the MC went MIA for 3 years, people thought that she had died, even the ML was unable to meet her during those 3 years. Later when the MC and ML are reunited, the ML announces that the MC is the twin sister of the prime minister but people felt like the MC might be the prime minister because not only were their faces the same, but so was their temperament, some people thought that the MC was a replacement of her 'twin brother'. MC didn't care what rumors people thought of as long as the ML was with her. Any who, after the MC came back, she was made the empress.
I'm the current editor for this novel and I have to say that it is one of the more well written stories from what I've read in the translations and raws. The story is pretty well written in terms of keeping the MC's secret a secret too. It does get annoying when they keep mentioning how beautiful/handsome she is though.
The MC gets drugged by a queen from another nation, she wanted the MC to be her man but found out the MC was a woman (I'm assuming this is how her gender got exposed the next day after), the MC then fell off the boat they were on and was saved by the ML. He saw that the MC was drugged so in the end, that's how they had their first night. Later after some sweet moments, the MC went to sleep and woke up to find her servant, she tells the MC that her master (MC's master) wanted her to return to the Holy Land. After meeting up with her master, her master asked if she slept with the ML to which the MC confirms. This makes her master angry. She tells the MC she can no longer return to the Holy Land. The MC questions why but her master starts to attack her, the MC knows her master would never kill her so she ends up dodging and falling into the lake and fell unconscious. Her master didn't want her to drown so she was going to go after the MC until the MC was rescued by a man in white. The MC wakes up 2 months later in the Holy Land, she is informed that she's pregnant! She tells her servant to tell the ML she'll see him soon. Some time later, the MC is at a center of the lake, sitting on a chair. Lightning suddenly appears (don't know why) and attacks her, a second one appears which looks 2x stronger than the first, this makes the MC concern for her unborn child. Her master and the man in white shows up to save her. The man in white decided to give up his life to save the MC. When the MC takes off his mask, she realizes he's her friend who went MIA whom she calls her big brother (he's her brother's friend which I've previously mentioned). He then turned into butterflies and went into the dark clouds, not long after, the dark cloud disappears. 3 years had passed, the MC never left the Holy Land. The MC felt guilty for her friends death and felt like she owed him. She didn't want to leave the Holy Land because she felt it was like abandoning her friend, so due to this guilt, she has not met with the ML for 3 years. Side note : The Holy Land and earth or w.e are two different places which is why the ML is unable to go to where the MC is at.

The queen from the other nation had been attracted to the MC's appearance the moment she saw her back when the MC was 14 and wanted to marry the MC but the MC rejected her by claiming she had a sweetheart. The queen had not given up an wanted to kidnap the MC at one point, not only was the MC physically attractive, she felt the MC was extremely valuable. Seeing that the MC was the lord of the Holy Land people made her want the MC even more, thus, later resulting in her drugging the MC. She had wanted to make the MC her but hasn't realized the MC was a woman this entire time regardless of seeing all these men going after the MC lmao.. I wasn't sure why her master was angry.. It didn't seem to do with anything about her being a virgin or not because the last lord (the MC's other past life) had to get pregnant to reincarnate or something. If it was previously mentioned, I probably forgot about it. It might be because the master knows the man in white (MC's friend) loves the MC and wanted them together? He was reincarnated to meet the MC again since her past life is his former love(?) but alas, they were unable to be together this time.. When I say past life, I mean the MC has 3 souls in her body.. The former host, her past life, and her current soul. Apparently, the MC is her past life's child but born in modern times. It was fated for her to reincarnate in the vessel she was in (former body host).
