Hello, this is my first post on NUF. I've been lurking on this site for a while now and finally decided to join the community! So here is a riddle I came up with to challenge the nuffians: A person is 20 years old. Is he/she closer to 18 years old or to 22 years old? I will post the answer tomorrow. Looking forward to your responses! (Remember: There is only ONE right answer. Muhahah! Don't hurt me... QAQ) - Whip-kun ʕ´•ᴥ•`ʔ
The 22 year old wishes to relieve the 18 year old days of entering college afresh and the 18 year old can't wait to grow up fast enough. The 20 year old...well, nobody really cares about 20 year olds, they contribute nothing to society Kappa
Assuming you have just turned 20 years old, you will only need to backtrack 366 days, or 1 year and 1 day, to be 18 years old. While, to be 22, it will take you exactly 2 years more. So, 18 is the right answer in this case. Of course, if you assume to be 1 day from turning 21, you're still technically 20 years old, but you are now 1 year and 1 day away from 22 years old, while 2 years from 18. So, both are valid. But what am I talking about? I'm forever 18, so this question doesn't make any sense to me!
Er - either are valid for various ages depending on assumptions. The question is flawed. Reminds me of those boneheaded SAT questions that always had implied assumptions that were never explicitly stated, only guessed at.
It depends are you counting 18 from the second you become 18 or the second before you leave 18. Same with 20. One way is a 2 years difference and the other way is a 1 year difference. If it is from the beginning of 18 then 22 is closer as the second after you turn 20 you are ticking closer to 22 and away from 18. If it is the second before you leave 18 then 18 is closer as you won't be equal distance til your just about to turn 21
By the time I finished reading your question and prepared an answer, the person would have been a few seconds older.
This year is 2018 Assuming he is born in 1998 And his birthday is (let's just say) 1 April. Then: 1 April 2016 (18 birthday) to 1 April 2018 (20 birthday) is 730 days. From 1 April 2018 (20 birthday) to 1 April 2020 (22 birthday) is 731 days So he is closer to his 18th birthday than his 22nd birthday, by a margin of 1 day. (This result is varied depending on his birthday, but there will be a margin of 1 day)
Which way? Forward or Backward? If neither and also, then I would say neither and also for both 18 and 22. It's all just how you count. But you didn't say a "person just turn 20" but a "person is 20", so I'm guessing that the person is already 20 for sometimes? Then just 21-22, while 18 slowly take distant.
The teens age towards the mid twenties are just too different from each other. I'd say that they are all somewhat unique.
