I mean, one thing I like about this WN so far, is that it hasn't skipped any loop yet, because all the loops are interesting, because stuff is happening in them. And since the MC is consistently learning new things and making progress and meeting new people, the lack of repetition isn't strategically inferior anyway.
The daoist was saying that he saw a picture of the monster in the book that the protagonist has been trying to steal. So, I think the implication is that the book is related to the evil group with the guy who summoned the monster. Or it could be portraying the events of the time loop or something.
