Question How gay is Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil

This novel has high rating and a lot of tag that i like except yaoi.

So, how gay is this novel compared to straight one? Is it machineslicedbread tier or sweet one like hidden marriage. Or maybe below that (hopefully).

 

When you think about the amount of chapters, word count, plot development etc I’d say it’s closer to shounen ai... there is a lot of talk around the topic of gay romance but actual “sex scenes” are very few and if you are over 18- most likely would not bother you much at all. The author is more into the plot of the story and into faithfulness of the characters than into “porn”. Often it would say stuff like noises rather than describing the deed...
In any case I’d recommend reading it...
Though if you are really bothered by yaoi tag- go read Side Character transmigrations the last boss is no joke; Quick transmigration second female something; Quick transmigration cannon fodder something- those three have female leads.

However why I’d still read QWTFOTD- because it will probably (hopefully) be completely translated in the next 2-3weeks (fingers crossed), whereas the female lead ones are all over 1000 chapters long and only about 100-150 translated so far

 

On a scale of not gay to haaa, ggaaaayyyyyyy. It’s pretty gay, but the story is worth it.

 

its not too gay but its enough so that you know its gay. the mc isnt like super in your face gay, but like kinda low key i guess, but theres still kissy scenes and stuffs like that. its a super good novel and i recommend it 10000000000%

Well... if you remove the yaoi element, adding a woman. Would change some plot points and transform the story a little strange for a man to read. It's low gay.

Haven't read it, but "quickly wear" is a mistranslation of "quick to pass through" or whatever, which basically just means that the MC will end up in a new world/setting every couple of chapters or so.

Usually there's some system that force "straight" guys who don't want to but will get killed or w/e random bs excuse author come up with to get fucked by the ML. So basically it's 99% of the time novels where the MC end up in a new world every 5-10 chapters only to get fucked by new dudes, usually always rape...


This one could be different I guess, but well, even legendary master's wife which I read some hundred+ chapters of years ago that's supposed to be very light, MC gets raped by ML every once in a while.

You'd probably have to read it yourself to find out, but honestly I wouldn't trust most readers who like yaoi since they tend to downplay it.

If you have to even ask such a question, why even bother to read it? Look at whether it is well written/translated or not.

 

Bruh, if our ML tried to do the MC when he didn't feel like it he would be punished so hard XD!!! The MC YunSheng started out homosexual in the first place, and hated being forced to do girls by the system before he broke free. His relationships with the ML are mutually consensual and don't detract from the story. YunSheng wants to find his love, but he never abandons his goal of fulfilling his current hosts' wishes and destroying the system. In fact, he often puts his relationship on hold in order to complete his tasks.

 

Huh, that's kinda interesting I guess. Author intentionally doing the opposite from the norm.

I might end up trying it at some point I guess, though I'm not a fan of most system novels. Though I guess it depends, I like it when it's like in terror infinity/the ultimate evolution/etc.

How many chapters are spent in each world? Or how does it work?

Just skip a few paragraphs once in a while and you'll be good to go.

 

There's romance in every arc, but most of the story is focused on advancing the plot and finding ways to deal with and faceslap the scheming side characters. On the whole, it's one of the better written System novels available in English. The author is really good at building the world, setting, and storyline of each arc, but they wrap the ending up very quickly, sometimes making you wish there was more detail. Since it moves fast, the main characters don't spend a lot of time being sweet with each other. The MC has his own goals, so most of the time, even though he likes the ML, he'll ditch the guy to get shit done. It's a good and quick read with a lot of badass moments. It's worth trying.

Quick guide on the arcs:

1) Intro

Modern day. Faceslapping arc where the MC incarnates into one of 3 sons of a rich family. The MC's original body was a stupid canon fodder, but because MC had overwritten the 'System' that oppressed him, MC can now do as he likes--and he chooses to get revenge by stepping over the story's protagonist and villain by becoming one of the most financially successful people in the world.

2) Black-hearted Lotus

Modern day. A family drama with a similar setup to Hidden Marriage. The male lead has a young son who had been abused, but the young son becomes attached to the protagonist [young girl], and after that the male lead and protagonist fall in love... or rather, that's what the original storyline was. MC incarnates into a cannon fodder who had wrongfully been accused of abusing the son. Originally this innocent cannon fodder died, alone and abandoned by his family, but now that MC is here, the real villains will meet their punishment.

3) Space Reincarnation Girl

Ancient times. MC incarnates into the son of a court official. Originally, the son got caught cheating in an imperial exam and the entire family fell into ruin, but this time the MC aces everything. His goal is to facesmack the female lead, whose background is one of those girls who got a second chance to live her life and steps over everyone so that she can make her husband Emperor (hence, space [she has a hidden space golden finger] reincarnation girl).

4) Playing the Poor Rich Second Generation

Modern day BL setting. Basically, a romance drama between teenagers, except they're all guys. The protagonist is a pure and generous-hearted person who basically steals boyfriend of the original canon fodder body of the MC, so the MC wants to faceslap them all by making the cheating boyfriend regret everything until his teeth fall out.

5) Fighting The Cross-Over Wife:

Ancient times, BL/Ger setting. This is parodying the mpreg setting where guys born with this red mark on them can become pregnant (basically, they're a third gender in a world with few women). But the MC can never get pregnant and he doesn't want to, so it basically only matters for how characters treat each other. Anyway, MC is a rich landlord in a small village. The original body oppressed the village and extorted them for money, but the MC doesn't care about that stuff so he instead treats people fairly and washes clean the original character's reputation. As for the romance, the original setting was like in "Picked up a General to Plow the Fields" where a general lost his memory and was found by a farming family. The protagonist was a guy who crossed over from modern times, but obvs he can't stand up to the MC.

6) Wearing the Face of the Music King

Modern day entertainment/showbiz arc. MC incarnates into a guy who killed himself because his music was stolen by the protagonist (a girl who wants to be a famous singer). The song was the guy's best achievement and dedication to his deceased father, so the MC decides to get revenge by reclaiming the song and proving his talent against a world that calls him a thief/worthless.

7) Facing a Double Rebirth Attack

Ancient times, BL/Ger setting. This one's setting is hard to describe because it's built on a lot of ancient times CN tropes. Basically, palace drama where the protagonist is a military 'Empress' who hates the Emperor (protagonist's love interest). They both reincarnated after dying in a battle, and the protagonist became a vicious person who orders all of the past live's enemies dead. The MC incarnates into a concubine of one of those families. This arc is a lot of emotional drama and the MC is rather low key (though still has his epic moments obviously) so I wouldn't recommend reading this if you're on the fence about the story.

8) The Next Top Supermodel

Modern day, reality TV setting. Basically, the MC wakes up and finds himself as a participant in the reality TV show 'Next Top Supermodel'. His goal is to pass all the challenges and become the star, of course. This is a really light and fun arc in contrast to the heaviness of the others, but it might not be a good read for people who don't like cheesy reality TV lol.

9) End of the World Duplication

Modern day, apocalypse BL(?) setting. This arc has the least amount of BL in the entire story. MC wakes up as a scientist trying to cure the zombie apocalypse, but in the process he did a ton of inhumane experiments and was considered a monster by the world. MC's goal is to continue and fulfill the scientist's research and save humanity. This one is a really good arc for plot and OP moments.

10) Copying a Western Fantasy:

Fantasy world BL setting. Basically it's an isekai world where there's a light god and a dark god. Everyone loves the light because it protects them from the demons that come from the dark realm. The MC incarnates in the body of a canon fodder priest of light. Because this is a high-level realm, all power comes from the god of light--so if the MC wants to protect himself, he has no choice but to brainwash himself into worshipping the god of light. In the process, he attracts the god's attention and becomes the, uh, god's 'favorite' person. This does, however, give MC the power to faceslap the entire world... even if it means he suffers humiliation in the process. It's my fav arc, but it has a ton of BL moments so it's not a good one to start with.

The others start moving into the story's overarching plot, so I won't describe those. Hope you'll try it out, it's one of my favs for a fast and satisfying read.
