Im curious if there are any novels which are like the usual japanese in game with classes and mmo elements, but without putting the protagonist in the center of everything. To be more precise, instead of an op main character whos solving all problems by himself and each situation is only written to let you know how awesome/humble/strong he is Im looking for a novel which puts the reader into a party with entertaining or funny conversations between them. (bonus points for self-insert support class like a healer) I also appreciate recommentations outside of mmo settings!
No Hero ...??? Not mmo, but many characters are not shallow. Also funny. (Sequel to Eclipse Hunter, also not bad but somehow No Hero is better)
Since you are open to non mmo, I highly recommend Rakuin No Monshou. I think it is one of the best written LNs I've read and the world building and character development is amazing. Even the "villains" are complex and well thought out.
Rising of the Shield Hero kinda fits what you are going for, I think. Even if it's not a perfect fit, I recommend it cause it's a pretty good read and is already fully translated.
Virtual World: Close Combat Mage follows along an OP MC in a VRMMO setting, but he's a gaming noob so he spends alot of time hanging out with this party group of his and learn the ropes slowly. More often than not, the major arcs always involves other side characters and more than just the MC being strong, so I'm not sure if this would be in line with what you are looking for. I personally think the characters are very distinct and the shenanigans they get into are often quite hilarious. Definitely worth a look~
Sevens is perfect for you, it has game elements, but not full MMO with NPC or Classes or something like Jumanji 2017 did, it has funny conversations, balanced set of characters(technically), the enemy are the Overpowered ones and most fights are being fought through team work, S+ Tier harem like Monogatari Series + Shounen Elements for characterization and power ups and Seinen elements for its complicated matters when it comes to politics and strategies Also try Infinite Dendogram, I haven't read it yet but it seems good, the character design and the art is enough to show how creative it is
