Recommendations MC isn't seen as Main Character by others

Hi! This is a bit of an odd request, but I'm looking for a novel where the Main Character isn't the hero. I don't mean that they are a villain (though they totally can be!), but rather that there is a character stronger than them at the beginning of the story, and isn't an enemy to the main character.

For Example: The story is begins with a Low rank adventurer, but you hear about a Party of Heroes that are challenging the Demon Lord. You might hear about the Party occasionally, but the MC is not part of the party, or in opposition to the party.

I remember seeing 2 or 3 novels like this, but can't remember their names. Closest I can describe would be "That Person, Later On...", where the story from the MC's perspective begins after the Demon Lord is killed, and you know about the hero's party from the beginning. MC does see the party as villains though (Well, mainly his Harem does, he just wants to hide from them). Thanks for the help!

I feel like Sevens is a good fit for what you're looking for (although the main character is seen by as the protagonist by some, he is still fighting against the one that many see as the "protagonist")

 

Ha my sister just watched someone play a digimon game about the MC being a side-character type character that you wouldn't look twice at in an anime

Travellers gate. MC comes from the same village as the one that everyone deems as the chosen one, while he starts as a sidecharacter that nobody cares about.
