Nothing says they can't stagnate just that to someone that is less enlightened they are both the same or when reaching extremes they can have the same effects
If a person wanted to write about a Mecha Vs Immortal story, then all they would have to do is write something about ‘Earth Overturning The Heavens’ and about how science isn’t about complicated stuff instead of simple things like laws and so on (Since Immortals basically use energy manipulation at the end of the day which is far less complicated than Science).
History has given ample examples that what you see in stories would not happen realistically. In fact, even in those stories that you mention, their traditions of 100000 billion years get shaken by the protagonist. Just one person storms through and tears everything down. The people have to rebuild from scratch after that, necessitating change and innovation. Not a return to the old ways.
Nope, Tech is rule by profits and "Mad Scientist" and limited by raw materials and human support. No profits no R&D no progress A mad scientist will see to the extend of what science can take us. Apocalypses are cused by this Raw materials for advance research is limited and sadly the human body isn't design for space. And human support, who will support, Unlimited energy with a chance of the world going boom, generic human cloning, A.I that will/can contorl our daily lives. Also for for immortals/gods/demon doesn't really matter to me, just asnwer me who/what can beat superman?
This is going to depend how you "define" the god or what they are able to do. I think most god stories of that nature ground a "god" on some rules and do in a sense make them mortal which kinda doesn't really make them a "god" per say since they would be bound to the universe... A real god or one I would define as one would be one that can change the laws of the universe to how they see fit and would not be bound whatsoever in what they could do... I mean its a fucking god... They can on a whim decide nah, there is no such thing as gravity and poof, its gone everyone would be floating off the planet since nothing is keeping them down. Science would never be able to conquer or challenge a god that has full command of the fabric of reality, all of which science is based around. You call it god killing gun, you don't say huh? Based on x technology huh? Let's just change around some laws of physics so it doesn't work no moar... You breath oxygen? How about we just get rid of all of it in the whole universe instantly... You got superhuman powers? Great, now you don't cause I just didn't want you to have them *poof powers are gone*. No rhythm or reason needed simply because they can bend existence to be whatever they want it to be right then and there.
This reminds me of the "interworld" trilogy The multiverse ( or rather the altiverse(multiple versions of earth)) On one end of the spectrum you have the mages and such or the other end you have tech like robots and little gray men. It was explained that Magic is the world listening to the user and Science is the user listening to the world.
no. immortals are just that, immortal the bottom line is that any superhuman creature worth its salt can vaporize steel. any laser or other such sci fi weapon will ultimately depend on materials and any super being thats fast enough to dodge bullets could endlessly dodge long before a laser locks on and just destroy it with a single blow. plus assuming that we can somehow advance scientific knowledge to the point where literally anything is possible what stops these stronger smarter faster beings from just hijacking our tech and using our rnd against us
Obviously we wouldn't just focus on making lasers We could use Biotech to make Superman or maybe something like Reaper(OW),better, we could use both and make a Superman that keeps evolving
Technology is convenience while mystical is fundamentals. Anyone or most can use technology for its specific purpose while mystical can only be used by a specific few. Mystical itself is direct manipulation of the laws or aspects of the cosmos while technology is the means to harness and indirectly manipulate these aspects which only those of the mystical can do. Technology has many advantages against the mystical since even the mystical rely on archaic forms of technology as the mystical only advantage is its direct access or authority to the fundamentals causes of the cosmos. So yes, technology can "beat" mystical beings, since the only limit technology has is its civilization. A low-level civilization will have low-level technology and would obviously not be able to "beat" a mystical being, but if its a high-level civilization with high-level technology (high/low - subjective), then it can definitely "beat" a mystical being. Though the higher the level a mystical being is, the higher the requirements is needed for the civilization to create the technology to "beat" this mystical being. As so is above, so is below.
Its possible m8.. The tech just need to identify what is this being called god made of and disintergrate this metter. Even when they fail, tech can just go back in time to when these gods are the most vulnarable form and strike them there.. Between the multiverse of a perfected steinsgate theres bound to be one line that have the guys succeed to kill them gods.
Science is sticking or dependent to the laws of physics or nature.. while magic or gods are breaking the laws or above the laws of nature. So science is weaker because science has limitations while magic don't have any limitations except your imagination.
We are not talking actually real-life science since it would be unfair to the science side we are talking about Sci-fi
I dont read replies. I just wrote what i think based on the OP's post. Edit. You were the OP sorry bout that. Meh i just answered. Too bored to read other replies.
