Actually Harry Potter translators didn't get rights because their publishing houses did. That's why they're published by large and proper publishing houses.

Don't try to change the topic here. OP doesn't have a problem with QI holding the rights because it's not right or anything. He just wanted the rights to his own work instead. That's why he quit QI. I fail to see any issues with that.

It's a matter of personal choice. He's not actually attacking QI here.

What I say still stands. Translators asking for rights do not really understand what it means
They are equating it to an author's rights..
Their rights have no value if they don't get permission from author or original publisher.
Rights for translators should be interpreted as future earnings.
You either settle for possible future earnings or sell it for a lump some immediately
