Most cn novels are same in some ways. It's just how the mc is being portrayed and if it's to your taste which makes them likable.

Not many Chinese novels in my reading list.. and due to the fact that chinese novels tend to flood my search results yet almost all that i've tried to were the same kind of weard.. rubbish.. nowadays I tend to ignore chinese novels simply on the basis of them being chinese...

But there are few that have made it to my list:

I read quite a bit of chinese novel but my fav is the one that actually doesnt feel like *chinese* novel, they are just good, like really really good
Most other ochinese novel I read is not bad, especially the first few hundred chapter is usually pretty good, like ISSTH, Strongest System, Transcending the Nine Heaven etc but it gets tiring after a while and I really really hate how they love to put emphasis in every single sentence, repeating information, and other redundant stuff that you will often find in such chinese novel, and unnecerarily long explanation about the detail of cultivation that is often inconsistent bla bla bla you know what I mean

 

The strongest system - troll funny mc to my liking.
White peerless emperor - ^
Undefeated God of War - I like the mc being a muscle head.
Forty milleniums of cultivation - mc is interesting.
Plundering the heavens - bandit mc, scheming, amusing and shameless.

 

Emperor's Domination - mc is op
Virtual Peerless White Emperor - mc is op
The Strongest System - mc is op
Undefeated God of War - mc is pretty much op

 

I don't rate novels against each other very much, but it'd probably be just five Jin Yong novels. But that's boring, so I'll add a couple of others:

The Return of Condor Heroes - Jin Yong
The Deer and the Cauldron - Jin Yong
Smiling Proud Wanderer - Jin Yong
Bu Bu Sheng Lian - Yue Guan
Song in the Clouds - Tong Hua

Of these, the Deer and the Cauldron is definitely the best, and it's perhaps the most important Chinese novel of the last hundred years. One of the problems is that all of these books are very reliant on the Chinese language so a lot of the enjoyment comes from the wording of the prose so any translation is going to a lot less fun to read.

Admittedly, only book in my list is a webnovel, so a list with just webnovels will go something like this:

Bu Bu Sheng Lian - Yue Guan
Carefree Journey - Yue Guan *
Great Assistant of the Ming Dynasty - Yue Guan
Bu Bu Jing Xin - Tong Hua
Night Emperor - Yue Guan

There aren't a whole lot of translated novels in this list though.

* - this one is cheating a bit since it's still ongoing.

The difference is that it's fairly easy to find really good Chinese webnovels because professional authors will write these books. Japanese webnovels are purely an amateur affair, so there's going to be a limit to how good they're going to be. Also, note that the Japanese webnovels that get translated are probably among the best books on Syosetu but a ton of good Chinese webnovels go untranslated. There are a lot of good Japanese authors overall, but these people are not writing webnovels.

There are plenty of Japanese novels that are better than most chinese novels. If you truly though people felt that way, you would just let people also post japanese novels as well, and they wouldn't make people's top 5. Maybe you are just afraid JP novels would win?

CN novels just seem great after reading a bunch of JP novels, but once you read a bunch of CN novels and know all the tropes and feel their repetitiveness, you'll notice there is no real difference. Simply there are good novels and bad novels on all sides. Though I do think KR novels are overall better (though part of that could be precisely because of less of them means the better ones are being picked up for now)

As for my top 5 CN:
Release that Witch - lots of crafting, not xianxia
The Amber Sword - more realistic characters, large lore, not xianxia
The Strategy to Become Good at Magic - funny, not xianxia
Absolute Choice - funny, but I hate how the tower arc turned out. This one is a live and hate thing.
Meow Meow Meow - Only the first part though.. as for why... uhm... it is my totally unbiased opinion that cats are the supreme race.
