Relaxed and easy poll today. Scenario: You are starting a new job. This job is one that pays well, but requires quite a lot of your constant attention and does not have any down time. Additionally, the hours could be weird. You will not have very much time to slack off, check your phone, or surf the web while you are on your shift, etc. -- you'll be working constantly! The job location is a 30 minute commute from your home. It's shift work, so you must put in exactly 8 hours every weekday. This does not including breaks/lunch. If you take a 30 minute lunch break, please add 30 minutes to the end of your shift. At your company, you have 100 co-workers. There are 4 employees assigned to each shift. The "on call" shift means that you have a pager: if any employee calls out sick for the day or a certain shift gets overloaded, you may get called in as backup. Employees "on call" don't have to physically be at the work site if they are not paged, but they must be able to report to work within 1 hour of getting paged regardless of what time of the day or night they get paged. "On call" employees will not work more than 30 hours in a week. Right now you are picking your schedule for the next month. The shift scheduler uses a lottery system that will be explained shortly, and the shift that you draw will be your shift for every weekday for the next 30 days. Here's how the shift scheduler works: 1) On the following form, select all the shifts you would be willing to take. 2) Out of the selections you made, first the computer will attempt to randomly place you in the shift that has the most open slots. 3) If there are no available slots in the shifts that you selected (e.g. they're all taken), the computer will randomly put you in the shift that has the most open slots regardless if you indicated a preference for it or not. Which shifts will you select on the shift scheduler machine? (choose all that apply)
7-15, so that i wake up early which is healthy, and have a lot of my day left when im done with work. 8-16 is another good option. 9-17, the standard 9 to 5 job is a little too late for me as i will most likely waste the time before work doing nothing productive.
On Call is my preference. Mostly because I hope no one calls out (fat chance) and I don't have to work, plz. Assuming I do have to work regularly instead, I'd prefer to go in around 9 in the morning, or any time past 3 in the evening.
In RL I control my hours. Most of my Hospital are open 24/6, but my favorite hours are between 4am to 12pm. I find these hours to be ideally because I’m the type of person who likes ringing out every moment of every second. Sleep just keeps me from doing more. So I sleep 5 to 6 hours. Wake up at 3am and get ready. Than clock in at 4am. Work until noon. You also have to consider travel time, office work and meetings. So time actually work - work is between 4 to 6 hours. When you subtract the hour of my break and lunch at the end of the day. I’m out by around 11am. That leaves the whole day and night to play.
the 23.00-07.00, I'm a nocturnal who's constantly had insomnia. might as well put in some job at that time, and have a breakfast before i sleep at 8-12, play some game and nap for the day.
Starting at 9 or 10 is great. You can sleep in late, there is barely any traffic. And it's not dark (winter) when you're on your way to work so that's a plus.
My ideal work hour would be 0000 to 0000 but I need to feed myself so I just let my employer decides that.
Ai-chan will take 20:00 to 4:00, because Ai-chan is a witch and your goddess. Yes, it's the time of the witch!
I'm not good at mornings but i picked 9 since that would be the best choice for me(wakes up 3AM every morning).
Anything that started between 6am and 1pm would be good for me. I just don't want to wake up earlier than 5am or get home later than 10pm.
