I don't think anyone is holding them to the same standards as doctors and lawyers. They just gave examples. Yes, what they have done is normal, but the difference is that while other big companies' shady tactics are brought to light after they have developed, QI's misdeeds have already been brought to light, and they haven't even fully developed yet. In gaming terms, let's say they are only in the beta. Once a company has fully developed it's more difficult to take them down as they will most likely have the support of the government (money, taxes). It's harder to hinder a static (developed) object than it is to hinder a kinetic (developing) object.

Ok, this baffles me: Why do you guys keep thinking Qidian is a small company? It is backed by Tencent. Already backed by the Chinese government, unless they get sanctions, they have close to unlimited funds.

 

Qidian is not a small company. Qidian International is. Qidian has already developed in China and is a giant there. But Qidian International hasn't developed internationally yet. BTW, most people (westerners) don't know what Tencent is.

 

To me, there is no difference between Qidian International and Qidian. Their legal documents say that pretty clearly. Both are under China Reading Limited

EDIT: But still a little difference. QI is most probably a subdivision of Qidian. Like EA Sports and EA.

As it turns out, the popcorn guy was parked three blocks over. Had to walk all that distance for that dope.

You guys really are compare mtl to qidian's translation? Sure, the quality isn't as good as here, but mtl level? Seriously?

Qidian's version is perfectly understandable with a few mistakes here and there, while mtl is about eating a chapter and vomit the words on the website, without a rule or pattern.

 

Respect works both ways. No communication at all on whats going on with the novel, just one chapter part per week. Very disrespectful and shows no regard towards readers.

Example: Turtle's releases, she's great because even with mishaps and accidents, she always lets readers know whats going on and what to expect. Again, professionalism. Whether people like it or not, WuxiaWorld is a business and bussineses are held to certain expectations.

 

The reason RWX stopped is also in that thread, but I won't be surprised if you say that you laugh at that too - I mean whenever we think you cannot stoop any lower, you always prove us wrong.

Aren't there more TLs than just WXW translating the last hundred or so chapters for HJC? I guess the death of one RWX family member crippled the entire team... Crippled them so hard that no one was able to let the readers know what happened.

I'm not denying the fact we all are at one point customers, but I thought (and still think) that his behavior completely ignored the relationships between translators and the community.

Don't see only one translator and the world around him and say, oh yea, completely separate things, because many translators are part of this community, that have fans that care for them, of which they care about too.
