Well it makes sense; as we discussed earlier, the author seems to be laying out the next 1500 chapters (he said it would be a bit shorter than MW, so around 2000 chapters total) in this arc.

Basically, this is where we get to learn of the higher realms and how to reach them; obviously, Yi Yun at most would break through to Dao Seed here, but this is where we learn about true historical powerhouses that Yi Yun would probably be able to match (or exceed) in 1000-1500 chapters.

Also, places like the Untraversable Sea and God Burial Abyss are being mentioned quite a bit (like how Xintong dreamed of traveling through those places).

Author is basically just foreshadowing the rest of the novel here; especially if Xintong isn't cured anytime soon, then it's likely that Yi Yun and Xintong will go to/through all of these places and ascend to the peak of the continent (and beyond) over the next 1500 chapters.

This had to be done at some point; it might as well be done here.

 

Yeah, but do we really need a chapter on Shen Tu N's indecision?

 

Well, it actually shows Shen Tu Nantian growing as a character in that he's starting to respect Yi Yun as an opponent; that's really what's happened after they entered this tower...; Shen Tu Nantian's actually respecting Yi Yun's abilities.

Is that a bad thing to show?

It's boring to have one dimensional characters; Shen Tu Nantian growing as an opponent isn't a bad thing.

 

I think we've already seen it. Plus it doesn't need an entire chapter.

 

There's 3 points to this arc: 1) to show Yi Yun's value rising in the Tian Yuan continent (Lin clan/Shen Tu clan/other rivals' eyes) as Yi Yun shows his abilities/comprehension, 2) introduce the concepts/places that will dominate the rest of the novel (i.e. places like Untraversable Sea/God Burial Abyss/existences beyond basic present Great Emperors like Lin Matriarch/Shepherd Boy), and 3) Yi Yun will gain some cultivation and likely breakthrough Dao Seed at some point in this arc and might gain other abilities/upgrades to his attacks.

Everything will be in one of those three, and this author likes to repeat/expand on specific aspects. So, this is just what the next 30-60 chapters (maybe more) will be like...

Consider that we haven't seen Lin Yu and the rest that failed the early 2nd trial leave and return to the Lin matriarch..., there should be another round of "Yi Yun's talent is much greater than we expected" among the Lin/Shen Tu clan waiting outside; I assume we'll see that soon.

 

Not to mention, it might precursor the 'acknowledgement' YiYun needed to gain to inherit the sword art in the Yang Palace.

 

Wow.. that eye in the vortex is a terrifying image. Hooo... dark days be a comin'.

 

Kind of interested in speculating what comes after the Mystic Realm:

Has author set up an escape route for Yi Yun through the God Burial Abyss? Or is something actually going to come out of that to shake things up in the Tian Yuan continent...

 

I keep remembering the scene of the sheperd boy did something to the sword and saber tombs in the school/training/academy place. It's either a way to enter the Empress Mytic Realm, that place is another entrance to God Burial Abyss, or they are trying to summon something out of it.

 

Good memory. As stated by the author, this may be where a lot of the plotlines converge in a sense. And we've been speculating about how these other grandmasters and the swarthy youth got into the Mystic Realm (possibly through other entrances).

It would be really interesting if the Desolate race has something to do with this..., especially if that swarthy youth is a high ranking Desolate race member (he wrote his name in a weird language, etc.).

 

really? I thought Shen Tu Nantian was the new MC?

 

I honestly don't want to read about Shen Tu Nantian's training. It's also a bit annoying to see a time skip before we even see how Yi Yun plans to train. I hope the author hops back and properly goes over things with Yi Yun.

On another note what on earth did the Shen Tu clan do in the mystic realm last time? It seems like the god advent tower is a central piece to the entire realm so how did they have no experience with it? What trials did they have that could have replaced this? Does the god advent tower only appear when a crapload of potentials appear at once?

 

Nantian is the real MC. He has goal, willing to fight great obstacle, strong mind, etc, etc. He was beating by the devil antagonist who also tried to destroy his cultivation.

Also he's looked down by other characters, readers too. His girlfriend is hijacked by good looking bumpkin who pretends to be great character. All in all, that's definitely MC development!

Last chapter confirms this speculation. He has half of the chapter which detailed out how strong mind he had.

Don't you see how thick his plot armor be?? Tough and stronger than the trillion-time-refined unobtainium.

 

I just assumed what they faced the first time is just some crappy test like fighting beast and such, just like the first one. The tower probably only appear when there's girl with terminated yin meridians, because that will explain all the mind test.

 

Because the Mystic Realm sets trials differently each time (probably based on the potential of the cultivators that enter).

Last time also it was just the Shen Tu family entering, which really just means Nantian was probably the only "really talented youth" present. This time there's a lot more.

And as @Fengmi mentioned, the Mystic Realm knows there's a pure Yin meridian girl present..., and it seemed to directly talk to her in the pre-2nd trial "dream"..., so this could all be a setup for Xintong by the Mystic Realm (under the will of the Great Empress to find her successor).

It's important to remember that the Mystic Realm is there to give the Great Empress' inheritance to her successor; if potential successors aren't present, then why would the good stuff appear?

 

That solves the mystery of how he would get the full 10000 beast aspect totem book; makes sense that the Great Empress would have a full copy of it when Tai Ah Divine City only had a few pages of its remnants.

Will be interesting to see how this powers up the Aspect Totem.

 

Wonder if he will get some cultivation technique more badass than Tai Ah divine kingdom one which he currently uses ??

 

These past few days, I have to say that TMW is back! The TMW that I had gone to lots of all nighters is back. Btw didn't expect Yi Yun to choose himself a movement technique.
