Out of curiosity, is it possible that steam games that cost little money now, will be free when a sale comes along?

lol, do you really think business man are that nice. also steam doesnt own the games, they just host them. the Dev or Publisher has to make it free.
    no one likes losing money.

even when they offer free games, it's still a form of advertisement

First of all, of course I know that Steam doesn't own them. Why would anyone think otherwise?

It is as you said, paid games turned free are a form of advertisement. That's exactly what they are an advertisement. Which means they hope to gain money or popularity for their newer games.
I was just wondering if there were old games that planned on being free for a few days, like what happened with Crusader Kings II.

Turning free could have also been the intention in the first place. Like the recent H1Z1

Or maybe its sales were minimal before becoming free, like Team Fortress 2.

To be fair, many games have gone free. So it's not something new.

indeed. alot of previously paid games have turned free. especially the new BR games or multiplayer only games. i doubt they would do it on steam too much though. alot of game store website sometimes make deals with publishers by offering their games for free, or just offer them at a discount. for example, humblebundle or other bundle sites do this. H.B's weekly or monthly bundle sometimes have lots of golden gems. i got dark souls 3, new tomb raider, destiny 2 + a bunch of other big AAA games and indies for ~$5 - ~$15 or less(obviously not all at once. from different bundles).

Humble Bundle, huh. First time I head of it. Interesting. Thanks!
Edit: Also, is it possible to use steam cards for purchase?

nah, they only accept credit card or paypal. no steam cards. i think i only bought about 3 games from steam.
1st one was a 99cent game(blood of the warewolf. my first actual steam game), 2nd: PUBG, 3rd: Wizard legend because it looked cool. everything else are from HB.e3 is coming so hopefully some good bundles. destiny bundle is this months btw.
you basically get one main games and ~5 other at month end. some indie, some not. but since bungie is sponsor this time and destiny 2 their only pc game. you prolly gonna get indies
