I saw a google ad on one of the aggregator's site, thus I reported it to google, everyone should do this.

This will in turn maybe force the adsense to be disabled, forcing these sites to follow the path of aggregator sites catering to mangas and animes. Where pop ads will be placed. This will in turn bring people away from the site

the best way to fight them is to get a better recognition on google.

So that your content is considered the original one, and them is dupes so they will shown lower and harder to get adsense.

So, why exactly would reporting their ads work? So you're gonna report them for stealing translations? That the translator likely translate illegally? And that you can't even prove is the translators work, since it's just words written on a pc? You're a naive one

 

People should learn to a mind their own business. When you meddle in others business, the worst thing that can happen (worst for everyone including for you yourself) is your victory. Like "nice job breaking it hero". Don't do things just to make somebody suffer. Rather go and support the translators by visiting their sites instead, or directly donating.

 

I think you are wasting your time..aggregators get a lot of traffic.
Money talks.
Google blocked sites using widgets like Taboola but now have their own.
Same with pop up ads(they just call it a better name - overlay ads)

 

what is important is that the stories are told. Personally I think you are wasting your time giving them any bit of attention. true fans know where to go and they know to go to the actual translator's site or approved of hosting sites. I have faith that the true fans and readers know better.

For OP..
how does reporting the ads gonna work for us the original translator? Unless they're doing an official translation for the novel, this not gonna end well.
It goes like this:
1. you report the ads, with the reason "ads appear on a stolen/illegal content site" (not sure if it or something similar exist or not)
2. Google see it, then they disabled the adsense on that "illegal" site. (Yay~ Hahahaha, take that thief! /s)
3. enjoy the internet without aggregator site! Ha! finally, right?

3. Google (more probably the DMCA organization) do a throughout survei and reseach..
4. Google found out that our dear translator (most of them) are not licensed translator for that novel.. (Oh, no! did nobody sees this coming? What we gonna do?)
5. the non-licensed translators got DMCA
6. no novel for us (how sad...)

Bonus:
7. some "reader" got mad (oh, what madness is this? How can this happen to us, the "loyal" leacher? who "help" them reporting thos ads...)

 

Aggregators are a good way to read extinct novels.

you can't translate things illegally, first of all as long as the translation creates a transformative content than it is fine. you don't have to prove hundreds of sites with individual content of their own that suddenly appear on the aggregator site hmmm? do you even need more evidence?

 

No, it is only transformative if they have legal permission to translate it, and if not, they're just breaking copyright law. You're not protected by copyright if you don't have permission to translate in the first place, which is why the real owners can make you take it down.

And as i said, how will you prove who owns a translation? Yeah, everyone might know it's stolen, but do you really think that would hold in any court? Theres no evidence, since a translation is just literally translating words on a pc, which anyone can do, and theres only really 1 right translation, meaning you can't just say something translated the same is stolen

 

Reporting adds won't really do much and infact just give those aggregators more coverage and views

 

I made a mistake I'm not reporting the ads, rather the ads provider adsense(google), to ban aggregator sites for their pirating content to be monetized.

 

By the way, Google has been sued for being the most popular aggregation website in the world when it comes to news.
You can't expect a criminal to arrest another criminal that would be MADNESS!
