Question Whats with all the Asuras?

Chinese authors love Asuras, it appears, because there is: MGA, War god asura, Legend of the Asura, and probably a lot more.
Why?

To be more accurate, an Asura is supposed to be a vengeful, bloodthirsty killing "machine"(whether originally human or not). So i thing the 'Asura' in the title is just to point out that the Mc will ultimately turn into "cold-bloodied" killer.

Lets us look into the word Asura. We can see that it can be divided into 3 parts. 'As" , "u" , and "ra". From this we can see the appeal. The first is "As" which can sound like A*s and you gotta love the ass. next is "u" which sounds like "you" and the saying goes "Love yourself first". next comes "ra" which is the Egyptian sun god, and you know what they say praise the sun .
From this explanation we can see that Asura is a word designed to be loved , praised, and lusted after

 

In India, Asuras are bad guys, outside India, Asuras are the good guys. Persians actually worshipped a god called Ahura Mazda(Ahura=Asura). In Indian epic Ramayana, the primary antagonist Ravana was a half-Asura, his death is celebrated every year.

Chinese know a lot about Asuras through Buddhism which originated in India and is actually the version of Hinduism taught by Gautama Buddha. I read 'Reverend Insanity' too, in that the author explains that Demon(well I suppose Demons can be attributed as Asuras) and Buddha are the two faces of the same coin. They are almost identical except for one change in perspective i.e while Buddha has universal love, Demon(Asura I suppose) has universal indifference.

Besides a lot of Indian mythical stories depict them as arrogant bad guys who always harm innocent people, sacrifice animals to please certain gods, etc. There are some good asuras too.
