Line:化神期修为的修士早已过了辟榖期 I'm assuming they are cultivators who don't need to eat(correct me if I'm wrong) but here's the full line below: 就算这只幼团现在不饿,等明天也总得进食吧。但化神期修为的修士早已过了辟榖期,平日里可没有人会往他这天悬峰上送来吃食,那他是得自己去给这只幼崽准备食物…… What exactly is 辟榖期? It has something to do with eating grains
yes actually, I've used google translate on baidu and figured out its something along the lines of grain-eating period. But does 辟榖期 mean eating the grain or avoiding the grain cuz one of them doesn't make any sense when fitted into the context. I've looked at this website in case you're curious: http://zhidao.baidu.com/question/306527848.html
I think it's a typo? https://wapbaike.baidu.com/item/辟谷 Down at the historical section, it talks about how taoism believes grain can obstruct cultivation
Definitely a typo, should be 辟谷期 which is just fasting period or period where one abstains from the consumption of grains
and the plot thickens(more like my confusion) jk I think you might be onto something there. I'll keep reading on it for the time being~
if something doesn't make sense try to break it down. the part you got confused was this. 。为此道士们模仿不食五谷 it means . "For this, Taoists imitate not to eat grain" also 榖 traditional Chinese writing of 谷. i hope this answers your question.
I understand the direct meaning but I just find it hard to link back to the whole picture. So does it mean like a fasting period that is limited to grains? But the context is this period if already over so I don't really get why its hard to find food unless its a typo like what silverjoker said
Yes and no, in most of xianxia novels, any cultivators who breakthrough this stage/period will no longer need to eat anything or eat less in their entire life because their bodies do not require any food energy intake. Hence, in the context, no one will deliver food to them, and the cultivator has to find food him/her self, if he/her needs to feed a pet.
