Hi!! So, I have zeroed in on two laptops, and both of them are in similar price ranges.

I don't very well understand the technical details, so I am looking for help.(Preferably within an hour)
First, my needs: Pretty much movies, typing and a little bit of gaming. When I say gaming, not hardcore. At most some FIFA. I dislike touch, but don't really consider that. I also like an extended keyboard with all the num keys. dell.JPG

So, you who understand the tech terms!! Which do you think is better?

    ALso, ignore the shipping costs.

I would prefer some kind of info relating to your opinion.
    Personal experiences are also welcome!
PS: If your opinion looks scholarly, you may earn nuffies!

Don't take any HP laptop. It's the worst. At one moment you'll encounter some problems with the fan.

The 2nd laptop has what you want.

However, I suggest you get a PC instead. Cheap if you build it. Its not hard.

I personally use an Hp Omen but from experience, I think it would be best to go for the Hp Pavillion as Dell Inspiration isn't the best choice for watching tv.

One appears to be more inclined towards audio while other is for graphics and fast processing speed. Dependin on what you will use it for you might want to optimise the performance. My HP laptop was designed so it has powerful graphics so I can play games all day long.

I suggest the HP laptop as it seems a better choice for overall use.

one has a dedicated gpu while the other have an intergrated gpu. take the hp if you have the intention of doing anything slightly graphically intensive (like gaming and art stuff).
i also doubt you will be using the touch screen much too.

I have a personal dislike for everything HP, be it desktop, laptop or printer. Apart from that, my general conclusion:
    1. The second one has an actually decent graphics card and a non-powersaving (that's the U line) processor. It's performance will be above the others' ... You would think. But wait ...
    2. The second one has a 5400 RPM stone age hard drive, with a blazing fast Optane cache of ... 16 GB. Fuck. That's about the OS. It will boot fast but who cares? Copying files, reading files, loading games and such will be a lot slower compared to the SSD. It will be a bottleneck for daily use. As such, framerates in games are better but loading times will suck and in daily use it will probably even be slower than the other, non-gaming laptop ...Take it from someone with a laptop with a 5400 RPM hard drive +SSD cache. A full-size SSD is great, it really is ...
So in short, it depends on your gaming. Will the Intel HD Graphics 620 be enough for your gaming load now and in the future? Look up some fifa benchmarks. If those are fine, I'd take the first, even with no numpad. That's something you can get used to, no?

Otherwise, take the second. It will have a way better performance, but for anything but gaming you won't need that. It has a numpad and backlit keys which is also a plus.

Finally some addtional advice: look up reviews of both laptops, extensive reviews and check for screen and real-life battery life tests.

Then I stand by my original statement. The 2nd one has what you want. The CPU seems like their similar, so no difference. The GPU is from NVIDIA which is pretty good. 1TB storage is enough. 8GB memory is okay for light gaming and college work.

Obviously the Dell laptop is not what you're looking for.
Try searching for Dell laptop with num keys for better comparison :coffee:

Go for the second one just because it has 'gaming' in it's name.

Yeah, OP'd better buy a laptop like the first one but with a discrete graphics card. Doesn't need to be as good as the 1050Ti to run less intensive games. That'd be the best bet I think.

Some people are pleasantly surprised by how much they use the touchscreen, even when intending not to use it. It's something you'll only know after owning it for some time. Besides, the HP has the hard drive pitfall. And it's from HP.

It's a 5400 RPM hard drive. That's just shitty. The CPU is a world of difference. U is the powersaving line, H isn't. Now, a U is enough for OP's purposes anyway so it doesn't matter that much. Maybe the Dell will do better on battery life though, he'd have to check out a review for that.
