But I thought DeepL can't translate Korean and Chinese? Thier website only lists English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Polish.

DeepL algorithm doesn't have anything to do with translations. It's inclined towards checking the previous instances to improve the new translations. That's where DeepL's algo comes in and plays the role. We don't use DeepL's software but our cat tool is based on the same principle and algorithm

 

The novel still has to be retranslated, which happens periodically as long as there are enough new terms.

 

I thought it would just replace the terms..
That's easier than "retranslation" right?

 

Making terms can affect the sentence structure and grammar so without retranslating it it won't necessarily look that good. If you just want to replace the terms on your screen it's possible with a script, not sure if there's one for ComradeMao but there's one for LNMTL. I tried it and it doesn't work as well as retranslation though.

 

the new terms apply to the upcoming chapters which aren't mtl'ed yet. For the terms to apply for the chapters that have already been mtl'ed then a through re-mtl process is needed.

however, we are still working on a version where the terms will be applied to the chapter as soon as they are added by the user. the problem is that we lack RAM blush: we are on a shared hosting) space to make all the things work properly

 

Oh so you don't actually use DeepL the MTL program? Ok, I was confused.

I probably said this somewhere at some point but MTLing Korean directly with Bing and Google to English is not a very good solution as there's not as many datas and inputs in KOR>ENG (low usage, low accuracy).
It's better if you do as follow : KOR>JP>ENG
It's more likely to be accurate, be it for long sentences or even words.

 

@Tyr_ so what happened to you guys and your site? seems to have been deleted completely from the spectrum

we moved to a proper web server and now we have about 4GB of ram at hand to play around a bit more.. So expect some pretty cool functionalities in the near future. But it took us about 2 days to move to the current server because of some small problems that weren't related to us to begin with.
