now that you mention it, I can just recommend every high school romcom out there, especially the two famous harems which is about poor guys teaching girls/quintuplets

Oh wow, I never thought that I'll see that title in this thread, I haven't read that yet but I think I'll do it later, it's been years since I've plan to read it... I got a reverse recommendation

Well since I am on a roll, I recommend Shitsuren Chocolatier . I didn't read the manga, watched the drama. And then found a summary of the end of the manga and it was just what I wanted haha

Winner of the 2012 Kodansha Manga Awards in the Shoujo category.
Nominated for the 4th Manga Taisho Awards (2011).

damn, I didn't hear this manga before, sadly there's not enough translation, I guess I'll watch the drama if I have time

Unlike most romance stories, you hear what the guy is thinking due to the monologue. Very different from oldies like Moto Kare. Although it showed how shallow guys are. It reminds me of Moteki but much better probably because the author did not pretend to be male.
The reason I like it is because the Schadefreude meter is off the charts i.e protagonist suffered so much. I love such stories

No no you misunderstand. It is about growth. You can't grow without suffering in the beginning

Tried to read it but it hurt my head. The first chapter was ok but the translation quality took a nose dive after.
    What a shame.
Given that 91 chapters have been translated in 3 years. I have no hope

Yeah that is a downer. The first few chapters are terrible. It does improve after that though and is decent to read. But yeah the translation rate is not good. And tbh I found bits of the novel annoying itself. Like something happens and side characters misunderstand mc and rather than say something they get annoyed. That happens often which seems stupid after a while.

The writer of HCLS has another novel which is on gravitytales. School beauty and her bodyguard. Something like that. It’s similar kind of setting and it’s got quick translation I think. I lost interest in that after I saw how many chapters there are. By now there’s like 6000+ and it’s still ongoing.

There's also the manga "The Story of an Onee-San Who Wants to Keep a High School Boy." I only read the first chapter though but it seems to fit your criteria.

Plus, there's "Hayate the Combat Butler" but I have never read/watched it. The main character is a poor boy who serves an extremely wealthy girl.

I remember Hayate. I watched the Taiwanese drama version with a Korean actress whose voice was dubbed in Chinese. It was too cartoonish haha
