Monsterless at Japtem site. Forever unfinished but it's a fun read for me.

Would not say best, but definitely a must read. It fit more in the "intro to isekai", like how Coiling Dragon is for cn and how pride and prejudice somehow managed to land in the curriculum of all the hs I went to. I guess a better word is a "classic."

i said it for fun, but yeah i agree with you, my first isekai and one i feel did the formula right

 

The devils evolution catalog is kinda similar

 

Death Mage and Maou-sama no Machizukuri are the two that feel the most similar to Slime to me. They all feature the overpowered MC building a new nation for monsters and outcasts utilizing modern technology and such and fighting off the human nations that try to destroy them.

+1 for Goblin Kingdom, I dropped it because I was hoarding chapters to binge but then just kinda didn't care enough to go back and needed to prune my reading list, but it was a very well written and interesting monster novel.

 

If you enjoyed the monster/evolution side of things you might like A Monster Who Levels Up. It gets a bit meh towards the end but it‘s fun for a while and it‘s finished and completely translated.
