I noticed this when qidan releases show up all at once some of the other novels don't show up. Few days ago it was very pure the prequel and today its tales of herding gods did anyone else notice this

 

Well at least it'll slow down a bit since they've decided to stop releasing free chapters on some of their novels. (Just like everybody knew they would)

 

It used to be like that for me in the past..
Until tony introduce release filtering.
Then I just exclude qidian from my page and live happily ever after..
Even if you still read lots of qidian's novel, you should check for updates directly on their site or app and still release filter qidian from NU anyway.
Because theyre clogging up NU page like no tomorrow

I was busy with school and missed this. What is Novel Universe? I thought Qidian, WuxiaWorld, and Volre Novels were the major companies? Gravity doesn't count since it got bought out.

@lelouch18 Dont know how Qidan is in China but Qidian is shit in the English world. We hate them. They're liars, poachers, and everything they say they do for the readers is a lie. They just want more money for themselves. You're a girl? Go to Volare Novels.

 

That is business 101 for you.
Businesses exist for shareholders not consumers.
Ads cannot pay for running costs.
It was obvious they were going to start selling chapters.
Only people who don't have paid staff can afford to give free chapters

 

Also business 101 to go in with a sustainable model and not burn money then panic to recover XD
Then again there plenty of companies that don't run on sustainable models and are just there to burn investor money lol.

 

You should check the beginning page more often. There are a lot of novels that don't belong to QI in there monopoly my ass

 

Sadly, that is how most startups in Silicon Valley work, even companies like Netflix. It is wonderful for venture capitalists if they cash in after a successful IPO. Killing competition over profits seems to be the rule of the game.
I still do not get why people think Subscription model actually works Look at Cable TV, you already pay per month but you still view ads

 

Cable TV can go burn in a fire with how bullshit it is. Oh here a sub fee, oh there extra network fee, oh there is the rental fee -.- So glad no one even watch TV in our house anymore lol.

 

Hahaha but it is an example of a model that is actually profitable. That is why all these online companies who don't make enough money go burst. Even brick and mortar companies with horrible business models survived for decades : RadioShack, Toys R Us etc
Online companies have a much shorter shelf life

 

Internet providers can burn too but I actually need them and force to go with their bullshit lol.

 

You have two extremes

1. Companies who focus on profits too much
2. Companies who focus on rainbows and unicorns

I watched a video about the acclaimed Elon Musk. (He does not impress me)
It was a $1.6 Billion Dollar contract from NASA that saved his companies (SpaceX and Tesla). To me, it is carelessness when you gamble with your employees' futures(No guarantee of paying their wages). People use gamblers who lucked out due to connections as role models for business. What a joke.
Hopefully, Charities die and we get more social enterprises. I take a profitable business with a positive goal for the environment over a charity that spends its entire budget fundraising

But the truth is probably not that simple. Tadu is a competitor of Qidian in China. The fact that they "associate" with a group of translators to integrate themselves in the western market right after Qidian, shows that they also want a share of the pie.
There are many rumours but no official claim to what extend they are affiliated with Tadu.

Though, with the bad quality TL, the issues with the site (copied from others), and their marketing strategy which isn't different from webnovel.com. It appears that one more Chinese company is interested in controlling the western webnovel market.
