I wonder if ten days is enough for them to build a fleet of sleighs and make the round trip journey to the south to buy food? It doesn't seem like it should be.

so, they got tons of wood. in the mid winter, they gotta choose between making tons of sleds or tons of firewoods/charcoal?

Honestly not that hard of a choice. They're surrounded by forests. At worst they'd wind up having to ration wood for burning. Since they only really need the wood for cooking and can solve the warmth issues with blankets, sleeping together or building igloos, there's really no reason to even consider not building the sleighs.

besides for building sleights only 1 type of wood is necessary, might not even be the same as the best firewood, and if it is there are other types of firewood to use... shouldn't really be an issue

How are they going to build a fleet of sleighs if they had to go through so much trouble just getting wood to build their prototype?

I think the odds of the military reimbursing him are moderately decent. Even if they don't reimburse him, he'll definitely get a promotion out of this, as well as a major boost to his reputation. If he uses those two things well, earning back his investment shouldn't be too hard, especially if he's got useful financial foreknowledge.

What a waste of a chapter.

They insisted on the best quality wood for the prototype. Once they've done some testing on it, they'll pick a more common, cheaper kind of wood for the mass-produced model.

I wonder why the author delayed her for so long. Is s/he intending to have messengers sent south with the design to have the sleds built and loaded down with supplies rather than building the sleds and sending them south? Even then, 8 days isn't really enough time.

I wonder if he'll give Chu Lian the credit she deserves, or just allow people to think he came up with the idea himself.

C372: If the tent isn't very big, then how is there room for a fire inside of it?

C373: I'm still wondering where she's getting her chilies from. One cart, no matter how big, isn't enough for everything she's done with them.

C374: Anyone else find that doll's meat dress disturbing?

They're using a brazier which I'm assuming looks like this: http://cdn.vrtxcloud.com.chimineashop.co.uk/media/product/1ec/vulcan-garden-brazier-94b.jpg

The author didn't specify how big the cart of chillis was, so maaaaaaybe there was enough? XD

...that meat dress is pretty disturbing yes @.@

I meant more as a safety issue. In a small tent with not much room, there'd be a high probability of sparks flying around (or even just ambient heat if things were dry enough) setting the beds on fire.

Like the Earth covered with snow. Unable to see the beauty until the snow melts. Also snow is an imagery to desolation and loneliness.

Not to say that snow isn't beautiful in its own right. :p
