Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post! I just wanted to discuss about fandoms, Anime and K-Pop to be exact. I love them both, they relief my stress, help me a lot by entertaining and such but I just can't shrug off the fact that some people in these fandoms does not respect each other. For example, K-Pop fans insulting Anime fans by saying that Anime characters aren't "real", they're weaboos, etc. And the other way around, Anime fans that insults K-Pop fans by saying that the idols are talentless, plastic, etc. I mean, why can't we just leave in peace? Mind each other's businesses and respect them. Besides, our fandoms somehow helps us through our darkest times, so why bash them about their coping mechanisms? And I have to admit, I used to be very depressed before I became an ARMY. I was very depressed because of my mother's death, I also had anxiety issues. *ARMY = It's a fandom name for BTS fans. But because of BTS, I was able to change a little. I turned into a brighter person and determined to pursue my dreams. I even transferred to another school just to help with my studies. Anxiety and Depression really ruined my academic results.. But yeah, I just personally think that BTS is really influencing my life in a good way. They may not cure me, but thet helped me. And same goes to anime. So all these people aimlessly hating on me just because I love K-Pop and Anime, they just don't get it. I guess that's the end of my rant? Just drop your opinions if you'd like.
tbh when first time I see fandom my brain process it as what kind of fetish is that? then after read here and there while asked lil sis who fans of K-Pop (way before K wave) and anime~ of it just regular people~
Sorry about this but... I don't really care much about fandoms since they are very toxic. The amount of time I got disgusted with them for threatening a person's life due to their selfishness is sickening.
Well, i never got that kind of experience being save by something or someone. What saves me is myself and being alone is i coped with for my entire life. Having been obsessed with fandoms and whatnot isn't something i can understand but to each their owns i guess?
Not getting it either. There is no need to expend energy on hating a person just for something they like and you probably won't meet them. Unless it is abominable pizza toppings like pineapple. Pineapple on pizza must be burned in Mt. Doom. ( joke )
I don't like kpop but the people around me like them. It's hard to talk to people with no similar interests so I just smile and zone out when they talk about kpop in front of me. But it's not too frequent.
A fan is a fan regardless of who or what they fawn upon. They want the target of their adoration to be the best and are biased against any critics. The level of their adoration affects how obsessed and prone to violence they can be, with fanaticism being way up high. Insulting the target of one's adoration is the same as insulting their pride. Especially prideful individuals are more likely to respond in kind and even escalate the conflict exponentially. Trolls thrive upon encountering these individuals. That is why, for your own health of mind, it's ok to be a fan but it's bad to be a fanatic.
Some people develop very weird opinions about others for reasons I rarely comprehend. I don't know why people seem to feel a need to hate on what other people like (unless it's something like kicking puppies), but honestly, I couldn't care less about your favorite type of music (as long as you aren't blasting it in my ears - but that's a courtesy thing. Don't blast music in people's ears). I don't think less of people for liking something different - that's what makes people unique after all. If people harass you for your taste in entertainment, remember that they are at fault (unless it's kicking puppies, then it's you).
It's good to find external relief for your inner world from outside. In the long term, you must become strong yourself. I have never been a zealous fan of anything. And I think people really lose their own incentives in their fervour and craze, and maybe that's what numbing your depression, but it's not a solution.
I wont attack people with spaghetti for reasons like this. Though we did have a food fight in our dorm last night
Well, quoting certain youtube channel who had "fandom file" series: 'While majority of fandom is not toxic, it was always the most vocal and minority one who bring most toxicity.' Heck, even in NUF (which i'm pretty sure a fandom) had its toxicity. JP vs CN novels, QI drama, etc. Just stay away from those people. I'm pretty sure there are better people in said fandom.
Because those other people are having badwrongfun, and it's our duty to let them know the right way to have fun. It's like religion, and maybe for some people it is religion. Just avoid/ignore the fanatics and have fun with the majority of the fanbase.
