The trouble with people finding out that resurrection methods exist is fairly simple.

Suddenly everyone wants their hands on it whether for their own use or to prevent the use of it by others.

Everywhere, it is common for people to be killed for what they have. Be it by bandits or poison or treachery, anyone who has something others can be envious of, can be at risk of a premature death to the point that there were actually proverbs referring to such events.

The situation pertaining to life extending medicines is essentially the same.

Godly doctors were welcomed everywhere, and their secrets were coveted. Medical sects and Medicine halls, physicians' organizations flourished. All of these turned a massive profit. Herbs, grasses and other ingredients that could be used to make medicines for cultivation and healing could cost fortunes depending on their efficacy.

From ancient times until this current era, myriad people have always wanted to cultivate to reach immortality.

The wealthy, influential, noble and powerful naturally want to continue their prosperous living by all means; in the worst case they would hope to bring to the afterlife the luxuries they had or wished they had.

In history, emperors, kings, queens threw immense funds into the hands of fakes who claimed they could make their patrons immortal. They rigorously attempted to follow this or that text purported to give them immortality. They took any text that gave them the chance to cultivate or the chance to extend their lives even by ten years.

Assassination, schemes to destroy their rival families were all normal among the merchant families, the noble families, the military families, the Imperial and royal families of the known world. This corruption even existed in the scholarly families

Uncles tried to murder nephews for a chance to inherit, women competed against their sisters or cousins to catch the eyes of eligible bachelors... many times such schemes led to deaths. The Imperial court and other royal courts were among the worst offenders.

No usurper wanted the victim that they killed to be able to return to life, uncover their schemes and destroy them.

Conversely, no one who has anything to live for, would want to die.

Some people would even throw their loved ones or those loyal to them to the lions, just to win a chance to escape death.

Thus, there was no end of people who wanted to get their hands on any method for resurrection or a method of preventing resurrection.

The more unscrupulous would prefer both.

Even in the commonly known stories, only cultivators had chances of extending their lives or doing any research on how to resurrect someone or destroy their souls.

The fact was, the world of cultivation was just as dog-eat-dog as the mortal world.

It was unsaid that sect schemed against sect, disciple schemed against disciple, elder schemed against elder. If a sect's disciple could kill another sect's disciple or even a competitor in their own sect, then who's to say they wouldn't? Afterwards they'd also naturally take everything from the victim.

Even 'righteous' sects did this. Some sects were exterminated by others on pretexts simply to gain assets. Despite the 'immortals' pure seeming facades, they weren't really any better than mortals.

It was just that they had no interest in gold and silver when cultivation materials were to be had.

It could thus be assumed that only a great sect could possess life saving straws.

The Pavilion of Past Lives proved that such life saving straws did exist.

To be precise, the Qing Jing Peak Lord was one of those straws.

Actually, he was a golden finger.

Currently, while Cang Qiong Mountain sect had not won the highest number of points in the recent Immortal Alliance Conferences, that hadn't mattered as they had demonstrated that one of their inner sect disciples was quite capable of starting and running a sect of his own, and all the disciples who had entered scored enough to be in the 500's without exerting too much effort or taking the competition seriously.

Huan Hua Palace may have had bragging rights for their sect master's succeeding disciple, Miss Su Xiyan, having been the overall winner, but Cang Qiong had also made its point... They weren't there for the fame.

They were, however, certainly taking the establishment of their territory and footholds in the mortal world seriously.

Huan Hua Palace was of a militaristic bent and had once been the wealthiest of the four big sects, while Cang Qiong was known as the greatest.

Right now, in a profoundly disturbing trend, even the outer sect disciples of several of Cang Qiong's peaks had begun to show signs of being in the foundation establishment stage, and it was easy to guess that they were still busily working their way through raising their cultivation.

In addition, people already knew that all of Qing Jing peak's disciples inner and outer, were capable Artifact makers and even now the forests around Cang Qiong Sect were being changed into what must have been a truly massive restricted ground, full of various traps, poisonous, maneating plants, Spirit Beasts and Demon Beasts.

It was rumored that those forests were being used to cultivate valuable, powerful herbs and medicinal plants.

The villages that the Qing Jing peak lord had acquired and built into fortress towns were now the border which separated the danger zone from the accessible neutral zone.

It was only to be expected that some people who had watched the replay of the Qing Jing Peak lord's past lives would look for details as to how to extend their own lives or bring their loved ones back from the dead. Or profit off of the dead.

With Necron and his clearly demonic cultivators as a reference, one could determine that corpse manipulation in massive numbers that were enough to till the fields, serve as an army and support an entire city state was actually possible.

While it was terrifying it was also intriguing.

In one scene, Necron had described the walking skeletons and zombies as soulless, which probably meant the souls of the original people whose skeletons he had raised were unharmed and had returned to the cycle of reincarnation. However other types of undead were clearly the souls of the unjustly slain or revenants of various sorts and those were more contentious. The process of raising the undead had not actually been shown, save for the last moment of spell activation, so all anyone could guess was that the glowing staffs, wands, rings, jewelry, orbs and staves they saw being used here or there might be qi artifacts that anyone could find if they could uncover the tombs that the 'cultivators' had been laid to rest in.

Some cultivators knew of rumored demonic or evil cultivators who could create corpse puppets or control corpses with music, turning them into ravening monsters.

There were plenty of demonic arts but it took ludicrous amounts of resources and incredibly rare deeply yin sites ingrained with blood and unjust death to get those going. Even then, the resulting raised undead or corpse puppets were not on the same scale.

Then there were those demonic cultivators who were trying to seal souls into corpse puppets to try to raise people from the dead or made attempts to bind souls to the cultivator who would use them as they saw fit.

To anyone interested in raising the dead, the sight of Necron and his fellows was a revelation.

They could actually be demonic cultivators who used corpses and still be heroic. They could actually still become rulers of living nations in their own right, with enough soulless shells to do the work normally done by mortals.

All they had to do was gain the power to do things on the same scale.

If Necron could do it, so could they, right?

Naturally, for vendors who sold items around ruins, business was booming.

It was only to be expected that the recorded images from the Pavilion would eventually fall into the hands of the unscrupulous and unsavory type who would sell them to the highest bidder.

A few of the highest bidders at some of these auctions were demonic cultivators in disguise.

Thus, there was soon a spate of crimes against man and nature alike that caught the attention of the righteous sects and righteous cultivators.

Of course, those crimes actually tended to end with disasters and weird occurrences as the evidence of humanity's infinite stupidity mounted up.

Some people, who were blinded by greed,now sought to raise and train 'demonic path cultivators' that would obey them.

Others attempted to reverse engineer various spells with far too little to go on.

Naturally these experiments had bad results and side effects.

One poor fool attempted to raise the dead for fun and profit. He ended up electrocuting himself, by accident.

Another tried to raise the dead for an undead army. In a twist of irony, he got an army of ravening flesheaters that... turned on him and killed him. Before being eradicated in turn by some of the disciples who were out to earn glory for their righteous sects.

A third attempted to raise undead servants but had the misfortune to undertake it on land wherein people had buried the corpses of their animals which had died of an earlier plague.

Skeletal animals of all sorts popped out of the grounds like mushrooms, if mushrooms were capable of digging themselves out.

The unfortunate necromancer-wannabe keeled over twitching in agony, when one of the skeletal sheep he had managed to animate, headbutted his groin at full speed.

Of course, those were some of the high profile mishaps that caught the gaze and interest of the public, like a herd of goats fleeing the shed.

My worst fear....is seriously having someone like luo binghe appear. Relentless, saying it nicely just gets you brushed aside, doing it by force doesn't get the message across or do anything of effect, doing nothing makes them think its you saying yes, killing yerself wont work, neither does going to another realm.
