Happy non Independence Day (for the rest of us lol)

I’ve never celebrated an Independence Day of any kind. No idea how they celebrate it in Bangladesh either.

I'm from the UK... unless you count the Norman conquest we've never been a vassal state/subjugated - so no independence day

Well, for me it was yesterday ( the 15 ) and it was in my language ( French ) : l'Assomption
Don't know if it's the same thing, it's a religious feast, so I don't really do anything

We have an annual ball at the president's 'castle' which is shown for what, 4 or more hours live ? First them greeting everyone coming in, then dancing I think, never really watched all of it.

Then there's the annual showing of one or more versions of probably our most known 'homemade' movie, based on a book taking place in WW2. 3rd or 4th edition of the movie came out the last few years.

The day is a holiday, so most people are free for the day, but there's usually some kind of event in most places, be it churchactivity or a ball or something else. And if i'm wrong, all the WW2 veterans that are still alive are automatically invited to whichever event is hosted closest and some other things.

Happy Independence day for you! Usually, people in the USA have a bunch of fireworks go off and sell stuff at stalls near the area. However, I usually don't do that and just treat it like any other day. All depends on how you want to spend it tbh.

I mean technically since the monarch stands.
The closest independence event in the UK perhaps is the Magna Carta ?

Apparently, it was after WW2. 1947, IIRC.
