I swear to god every cultivation novel I've read so far has that bullshit "oh no the device plot guy #21 is on bullshit cultivation level 6 so even if 10 of us of bullshit cultivation level 5 combined our forces we couldn't defeat him"

That's what the entire trope has become these days, and then along comes the MC who wins the fight with a lower cultivation because of X, Y & Z. Most of the time X,Y & Z are things most other cultivators should have too (if they are at that level)

If you don't like that, change genre. Not an insult; xianxia is traditional daoist cultivation, xianhuan is hybrid fantasy (non daoist or western themes), wuxia is jianghao (non cultivation) usually historical themed. You still have reincarnation, transmigration, virtual, etc.

There is also josei type of genre (there is a cn term for it, but josei far more known), which is just female authors. Most of which are decent, and not all are just romance or fujoshi bait. My disciple died yet again, is a good example.

Cultivation Chat Group acts a bit like a satire on cultivation, while being a serious but well written comedy.

Then why dafuq would they strive for a higher level of cultivation? If 10 level 1 cultivators could stand against a level 10 cultivator then who would waste their time cultivating to the peak?

Cultivation is a exponential growth, it's not 1+1=2. I don't even think that this is a trope tbh, DnD stats are also like this.
