I will have a birthday soon and my sister told me that she will buy my anything on amozon to X £ so the nerd that i am came up with an idea ''lets buy some novels" but im totaly green in that area so im asking you for recommendations I want the novel to be -without 24/7 full story dense mc -without evil mc that will kick pupies and kill newborns -without half naked girls with the boobs that take half the cover -with romance, action may be part slice of life but not 100% -without yaoi, gender bender, yuri and other stuff like that(its ok if its only for side characters except gander bender) -male mc -recommend only novels that arent translated for free/half free thank you
Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Trilogy is very good. My introduction to Sanderson's worlds. Female MC but you don't even care since it isn't shojo or anything. It's action and comedy and a really unique magic system. His Stormlight Archive is also very good. I have yet to see any of his novels suck. Which is rare. This includes short stories and side stories.
Jonathan Stroud - The Bartimaeus Trilogy Trudi Canavan - Dark Magician Trilogy Terry Pratchett - Discworld series (I'd personally recommend Mort, The Night Watch and Thief of Time)
There goes all JP LN. Seriously, I am too ashamed to go to the LN section in public bookstore because of all those almost-naked girls on the cover. The look of other people was too painful to bear.
Personally when a friend asked about what to give me for my birthday- I asked for manga, Skip Beat! by Yoshiki Nakamura in paperback. Really one of the best presents I have received since that first bicycle back then. I noticed that on paper I can find many more little details for that manga , which I did not notice on my laptop screen. Instead of a novel I'd suggest you get yourself a manga from amazon, something which you enjoy reading. Kingdom, perhaps?
The only problem I have with manga. Is that they seem so much shorter than a regular novel. Than again their longer than comics, but still to short for me to really start getting into it.
There is a reason why i stoped reading manga and started reading novels first part was that the mangas were milion chapters behind novels secound part is that novels are more detailed but thanks for your comment
im ok with everything but not with yaoi etc and slice of life CANT be the main point Evolution or stuff like laws from Lord Xue Ying are appreciate
Wait one more thing no Face slaping left or right (major minus) every enemy is young master (i can bear with it)
Alex Verus series by Benedict Jacka. Or if you are fine with female MC if it isn't first person romance, then: Theirs Not To Reason Why series by Jean Johnson.
Here are my suggestions: Percy jackson and olympians (best of rick riordan) The secrets of nicholas flamel (has one of the best ending twist i have read) Artemis fowl (most badass kid out there) 39 clues series
Favorite paperback/ hardcover books: * Killing Floor by Lee Child (Like Rambo 1, but more intelligent) * Raj Whitehall series by David Drake (An ancient A.I. helps a young man conquer the world) * The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell (A war hero awakens from deep sleep to protect what’s left of a star fleet) * Empire Of Man series by John Ringo (A misunderstood prince must survive through barbarians hordes and advance space weapons to just find out why his mom hates him) * The Lost Regiment series by William R. Forstchen (A American civil war regiment was sent to another world and are face with man eating monsters) * The Legacies series by L.E. Modesitt jr (Good training and fighting) * Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson (A world war 1 U.S.A destroyer sent to another world) Good luck finding a book.
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch, sort of Ocean's Eleven in a medieval fantasy world, a great read and funny. Anything by Brandon Sanderson, as someone else said, i recommend to read mistborn first. Seconding discword recommendation Also one light-novel, Faraway Paladin, i personally highly recommend this one.
Everyone said Brandon Sanderson for a reason.... you can try Belgariad series (5 books, easy reading) by David Eddings for a more “classic” fantasy...
All You Need Is Kill (LN) Dostojevski / agatha christie for more traditional books, but you're better off just loaning them from the library
