Hi guys! Let us share our martial art manuals here! For those of us who do have those. You see. Today, the technicians came down to my flat to fix the air-conditioning, so I left my room and went out shopping. And by chance, I came to a very old open air shopping mall and by chance I came across a tiny shop tucked round the corner. It's a shop that specializes in martial art literature btw. They also sell training swords for Tai Chi. So I browsed around and bought a martial art manual for 20 Singapore dollars. Here's a picture of the cover. I know some of you folks here regularly translate Chinese wuxia/xuanhuan novels into English. So how would you translate the name of the skill (on the cover) into English? The author said it basically means clearing the impurities from one's body and deploying Qi (or Chi or Ki) energy throughout. But I think it sounds cooler if I call it "Serene Waterfall Qigong". There are 448 pages and there are very very detailed instructions relating to Qigong practice. There's even a chapter on acupuncture. They also have a section about the different kinds of cultivation methods. They are mainly Buddhism, Martial, Confucianism, Medical and Taoism. Here's a picture of that section. There's also a section teaching you how to absorb essence from the sun. From the moon and stars as well. I think there are a couple of cultivation methods in the web novels that are about absorbing star essence. So yeah, here's my cultivation manual that will turn me into a web novel protagonist! Now show me yours! I will of course start training as soon as possible. If there are any results, I will let you all know.
There is this indian technique called 'surya namaskar' literally means pray the sun. It consists of 12 postures through which we can absorb yang qi from sun.
I’m willing to become a disciple of a sect. Cultivation manuals plz I wish to become an immortal. (By the way any English manuals lol)
Lol, correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that part of their worship? It is also a yoga form or pose. This is not the first manual I have seen. Well, I have laid my eyes on some mental cultivation books, but they are usually laying silently among the big piles of self-help category. Rather, anyone from a young age if he mediates daily along with following a proper martial routine can truly hope to cultivate a mystical manual from the past, if they by some miracle come to posses it. There are three paths to enlightenment in our world, one is through the mind. The other is through your body and lastly, there's one through your soul. Other than the above, the rest of the books are shams that might be based on some cel ever science. I have seen vids on NatGeo where the guy sold magical stones to people that let them feel light. And the people really did feel light holding the stone right. Off course, it was a matter of positioning and centre of gravity which the guy cleverly manipulated to let them feel that way. Having said all that, I am all up for reading non fiction books, and these manuals are no exception.
You have manual?! darn is that mean my teacher trick me? I don't have manual tho~ they just teach orally like karate or judo~ listen! see! imitate! then train with your body!
Meh, I can't believe I am the only one with a cultivation manual to share? I thought I would be able to lure at least 2 or 3 cultivators out from the woodwork!
Why cultivate your mortal selves? Everything is simply transient. Immortality is already within us. All you need is time and wait, simply wait and immortality shall set you free.
Does witchery count as martial arts? We do kick people when they're down after all. Of course, it's our doing in the first place, but let's not dwell on the details.
