I've found a good one is The King's Avatar. Good gaming novel that gets them hooked in the first 15 chapters
Personally I would recommend based on what genres they like, Dark, Comedy, Action, slice of life, tragedy, romance, villain MC's, white Knights, etc. You COULD also do the classic approach and hand them Coiling Dragon
Whenever I introduce webnovels to my friends, I always told them to start with Sansheng. It's short, beautiful and it somehow incorporates most of the common tropes
My first web novel was Doomed to be Cannon Fodder. Not a quality story whatsoever but it will introduce you to the transmigration genre.
Well. Usually those who ask me for book recommendations are girls so i give them books by Gu Man, Ban Li Zi, and Mo Bao Fei Bao.
Well technically webnovels are any novels that was published on the web. Although Asian webnovels are usually what comes into mind first due to popularity. So I'm going to assume that the question encompasses those outside NU (wattpad, fanfiction (?), etc). And that the person in general is not a someone who usually reads stuff(if they a bookworm is there really any need to ease them?) or streams/downloads stuff online (excluding sports, youtube, etc). Therefore it really depends on the person in question. Have they read novels online? Have they read anything online (comic, etc)? Are they open to differemt culture/ideas (generally anime/manga/Asian drama people are more accepting)? Do they prefer stuff already finished? Or do they mind dedicating some time long term?
If he watches anime then recommend novels of anime that he/she likes. The question of what happened brought me to read novels. Now I don't even watch anime anymore.
Find a list of the top novels. (This is so they become familiar with what is trending.) Let them read the title, the descriptions, and see the cover picture so they can pick the novel they like to read. (Make sure that they get hooked) Then let them venture off to find their own novels. *Note this is similar to anime where most people start out with Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc. then branch off to find what their taste is. Ex. ( taken from other websites) List 1 Qidian 1) Library's Heavens Path 2) Full Marks Hidden Marriage 3) King's Avatar 4) Release that Witch 5) Super Gene List 2 Aggregrator site 1) Martial God Asura 2) True Martial World 3) Martial World 4) Peerless Martial God 5) Dragon Marked War God List 3 http://goboiano.com/the-10-best-selling-light-novels-of-2018-so-far/ 1) Overlord 2) Re: Zero 3) The Ryuo's work is never done 4) The irregular at magic high school 5) Sword Art Online: progressive List 4 NU https://www.novelupdates.com/series-ranking/ 1) A Will Eternal 2) Overgeared 3) Martial World 4) Emperor's Domination 5) The Novel's Extra
If they watch anime, make them read manga, then introduce them to light novels.Only if they like them can they then start with Korean novels, before sinking on the endless abyss we call Chinese web novels Or just show them Coiling Dragon or Tales of Demons and Gods manhua...
Some novels are best received when you already have a foundation to go on. Parodies of common tropes from chinese webnovels aren't anywhere near as entertaining if you aren't already familiar with chinese webnovels. So something generic is, arguably, better than something more appealing to you now. Y'know, something like Coiling Dragon instead of My Disciple Died Yet Again. As someone else said, a lot of people start off with manga and anime. It might be good to introduce them to the light novel or web novel source for anime or manga they like. If they've read the BTTH manhua, for example, they may like reading the novel. This is easier done with Japanese than Chinese novels, though, since there's such an overabundance of Japanese anime and manga based on novels.
My first web novel was based off a manga I read and wanted to know more of the storyline faster than the manga. I started with 1/2 Prince which has a lot of action and comedy before delving deeper into the drama. Following that, I found Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and Only Sense Online. I could not stop reading The Irregular at Magic High School and Kenkyo is one of my must reads nowadays. It really does depend on your interest as to what you read. I am also currently reading Crossing to the Future, It's Not Easy Being a Man. I like comedic drama that doesn't get repetitive. I would not introduce anyone to something with more than 200 chapters for their first foray into webnovel. I realize that most of what I suggested as first reads based on my own reading no longer qualifies for the under 200 chapters. They did when I started though.
i first started with tales of demon and god (TDG) then after i READ martial god ashura (mga) that gave me sleepless nights through out the years if you want to recommend your friend than start with TDG but first in manga form as it will give a little imagination feeling when he/she will read the novel
