I want to put this out before anyone gets angry at me. I am going to mention things that frustrate, or are uncomfortable, or tick me ME off. If you don’t agree, than you don’t. This is just a way for me and anyone else to rant or even recommend something we might like to read.

Firstly, uncomfortable stuff is harems and yuri. Yuri’s are pretty obvious for me. I don’t feel comfortable reading about two girls having sex. It’s just not my thing. Harems on the other not only makes me uncomfortable, but they also tend to have a lot of sex. Which tends to make a story with potential, into a story about fucking and “ruling the world” fantasy. Anyway that’s just my view.

Secondly, I love reading and can read a book in a day. If it’s a good one. But I like to read stories that don’t follow the same old same old. So I’m always looking for something different. Unfortunately most of the time these books tend to have one of these problems. Weak ass or even utterly stupid MC. It’s a harem or a Yuri. This doesn’t mean I don’t find ones to my liking. It’s just frustrating when you are trying to find them, and instead find a fucking a story where the dude is screwing everything that walks on two legs, with tits and ass. GOD!!!

Thirdly, what pisses me off and can cause lots of pacing and swearing. Is disrespect in stories. Some I can ignore, others I will never forget.
Like: The Arcanist by Greg Curtis.
In this book their are 2 things that upset me. The story is basically about this guy who is dealing with an attack on a city. Where he meets this girl who he eventually has a relationship with. But here’s the thing. The first incident I don’t really notice intel the second incident. But what happens is that he gives the girl and some of her (Co-workers?). Who work for this very powerful being, who hates men and protects abused women. A place to stay. The thing is, is that he, has them a guests so eventually he converses with them. Except when they ask private questions about him it’s okay. But when he does the same thing to them it’s all of a sudden, “not okay”. But I think the biggest thing about his story was the second incident. They all go to a different powerful being, to ask some questions. Before the guy leaves the being thanks him for the invention that he gifted this being. But here’s the thing. You find out that those”guests” had apparently gone though his things and took his invention and gave it away, WITHOUT HIS CONSENT. Holy crap! If that were me I would have told them too fuck off and get out. He didn’t do anything. But still, like REALLY!!!.
So yeah! Respect is important. I don’t expect perfection, because I so far from that. That I just consider it a myth. But I do expect people to try, and for victims to at least put big adult panties on and stand up for yourself.
Anyway theirs my rant. What’s yours? Any recommendations? Thoughts? Feel free, to voice your the!

when people dislike yuri but tell nothing about yaoi.....:blobwoah:

    edit:
i dislike yaoi, ntr and tragedy.....
the first and second simple because i find it disgusting(personal opnion, dont bash me for that).
the tragedy simple because they sucks, when there is such tag you can simple assume everyone will die, and if not that then it's cringy....
i'm neutral about gender bender and yuri, because sometimes i find something good other are junks...
and i prefer to read fantasy or sci-fi genre.

I don't read smut or 18+ period. I have a shit ton of different avenues for porn/hentai I dont need it in my stories I just want to read. Also something mildly irritating is the people who go into threads and shill bl novels. I don't have anything against bl novels other than my intense desire to never fucking read them. Same for Yuri. I abhor pussy(think JP novels) mc's as well as novels where the Mc just gets shit on constantly for no reason. I swear to God if someone comes in here and shills bl novels I'll fucking scream.

MCs traveling to a different world and somehow maintaining the right amount of modern day knowledge to implement it.

Like how the fuck did you study all of agriculture, marine life, soapmaking, etc as a salary man/ student/ neet

The power of MC's previous photographic memory they lose upon reincarnation/transmigrating.

When you mentioned soapmaking it sounded familiar.

Yeah man, i get what you are saying the peoples and their fetish. Especially japanese novels they always have that raunchy sex and toys and you know what i mean. If you really want some honest novel with good reading i strongly recommend royalroadl's novels and my favorite one is savage divinity. You should really try it if you are sick with this shit.
Ps. No raunchy sex and a good plot

So many soapmaking isekai novels nowadays.

That also sucks because it shows the author can't even remember their own plotlines.

I dislike harems, I avoid ecchi as there’s something about the idea that disgusts me. I don’t want to read yuri, but I don’t mind shoujo-ai if it’s tastefully done. (On the other hand, I do like reverse harems and BL.) I am traumatized by food porn. My level of hatred toward unhealthy relationships depends on a) how bad it is and b) how badly the story romanticizes it. I can tolerate people knowing modern/Japanese things to a degree, especially if a decent explanation for why they know that stuff is given, but the more the explanation is lacking, the less I can tolerate it. I hate MCs who are idiots unless it’s charming a lá Bakarina. I dislike characters who are extremely contradictory without explanation.

Hate such moments when isekaied protag goes 'imagining atoms and stuff' when performing magic. Scientists still don't know how atoms look like exactly yet some random otaku knows. And I also don't like yuri and yaoi. It's just not mine cup of tea.

I hate completely selfish MC. This way they look no different from villains but they are considered good because they are MC.

I don't mind Sex scenes both gay and straight. Tho I'm not interested in them.

As for respect , I hate classic ideological Heroes "honor and valor". Think stereotypical Paladin.
Instead I like evil MC's and characters the more perverted (non-sexually) the better it reads.
One of my favourite quotes this year is something like
"If they feel disappointed , let them feel disappointed"- Basically ignoring public opinion and doing your own thing , going along with your own lifeplan. People tend to impose rules and pressure you, they make you feel sorry for going after the things you wish to experience. The Mc I'm talking about is an evil utilitarian character , irl I would hate such a person , but in fiction I love them.

    I dislike in a novel:
    • pussy-whipped MC, who can't touch (sex or if it's an enemy kill) females
    • if I have to read everything twice or more, since the author/translator reformulates the same information in the next paragraph
    • having to read informations I read a paragraph before another time
    • obviously I also dislike to read it more than twice... Seriously, it breaks my concentration and I get a headache, if it happens too often
    Also I dislike:
    • if the whole world is against the MC without a reason
    • if the whole world is against the MC with a reason, but still supports his enemies which *should* also be hated by them
    What pisses me off:
    • too little time on MC perspective... I don't give a fuck about the generic backstory of every little antagonist
    • MC needs to "work hard" to get top-secret informations, but in the next encounter every single random observer talks about those "top-secret" informations like it is general knowledge
    • MC "mumbling" his secrets "under his breath" at every opportunity given, like he wants his enemies to know them... WTF dude!?
    • count addiction like some children-TV-show.... "not 30 meter, but 29.... 28.... and dozens of seconds later... 16.... 15...."
    • authors/translators say "dozenS", but only count it as "12" (instead of at least two-to-three dozen)
What pisses me off a lot:
    • too much to write it down.... I seriously need to reevaluate if webnovels are good for me....
    • yaoi
    • MC being a virgin 800 chapters in for comedic reasons, I don't need porn, but I can't imagine anybody "striving for immortality(and protection of loved ones, etc.)", if he has never experienced and indulged in his carnal desires, why not make him an eunuuche to begin with?

There is a difference of what ticks me off and what I don't like. I don't like harem but can tolerate it to some extent. Polygamy on the other hand I can tolerate even less (this has less to do with the concept and more how authors handle these things and most authors handle these quite terribly).

In terms of characters being hypocrites, well, that is reality for you. I don't mind that, I also don't care if MC is dense sometimes as long as it isn't over the top or for comedic sense.

What ticks me off though, is when the MC talks about A, then moves on to B. And starts pondering B not realizing that what he talked about in A solves B. It's like the MC's memory was erased between the 2 conversations. I mean I can understand not remembering something you said a day or 2 ago, but when you had a conversation about it a minute ago... there is 0 reason for you not to notice the correlation.

Another thing that pisses me off is sudden personality changes dictated by plot. Like MC says "I will never do this", and doesn't for a few chapters. Then out of nowhere he suddenly turns 180 and does what he never did before. Now that would be fine if they were simply being a tsundere, hypocritical or if they had a reason to do so. But I mean when they just do it out of nowhere and give no justification on why they had the sudden change. This is even worse when they had this principle all their life and they just throw it out for the convenience of the plot.

I guess what ticks me off is forced plot devices without any justification. It ticks me off even more when the author could have EASILY justified it with 1 or 2 sentences but instead chooses to make it look all stupid.
