Discussion Qidian and price... Really expensive!

People probably have noticed some novels on Qidian are only updated within paywall, at least Lord Xue Ying and True Martial World have done it for a while now. Thus stopped reading them.
I don't really have a big issue with giving money to things I like, but pricing and way the system works is actually quite expensive. If you only have one novel that you actually pay credits for like I do, it's not a really big issue.
But if you compare pricing to even normal Amazon kindle novels that are way higher quality, interesting and edited, the price just doesn't make sense. You can get complete books for $2-5 dollars, and almost all novel type books are on kindle unlimited for $10/month. So you can read as much as you want.

Now, let's take Qidian's pricing. I guess most would probably buy 500 credit package, it's $9.99. One chapter is from 6-14 of those. That's on average 50 chapters. If you are reading a novel that is already ahead you go through that in a minute, and if you follow multiple novels within paywall it's the same thing.

So if you have already gone through NovelUpdates and RRL, I would really recommend going to Amazon for books. You actually get complete books with people who have left reviews. Don't waste your money on mostly novels that are pretty much copies of themselves.

then there are google free books, novels on E-book, then bookriz where you can find more complete novels than on here or rrl... Quidcudi is stupid. So i use hacks.

While I dislike Qidian's paywall jazz, just saying it "costs" a certain amount doesn't give it a totally fair shot. Within Qidian's system, you can consistently get ~30 spirit stones per day. If we just assume each "paid" chapter is ~10 spirit stones, that means - for free - you can read 3 chapters a day. This outpaces the updates of most other novel sites, no?

It might require some patience if you're catching up to a novel and only go 3 chapters at a time, but anybody that's been following the translation scene for a while is well acquainted with patience.

Basically, it's not apples to apples, since Qidian's price is based on the fact that they're giving away free SS in large quantity, so they increase how much they charge for them to be "profitable".

Well, the moment I saw new chapter behind a paywall. I immediately leave and unfollow those novels. I don't have money afterall. If it is just ads, I'd still allowed them. But the moment it is paywall, I don't need to care about them. Lol

I used to hover around 1000 stones after buying some, between the gain each day and the expenditure i'd only lose a few a day, then they locked most of their content and all 1000 were gone after an hour of reading stuff like Reverend Insanity.

 

No clue what this thread is about, didnt read, its just something about price and qidian
